bigjarofwasps Posted November 12, 2023 Author Posted November 12, 2023 Interesting to see examples of it with clasps? 1
Megan Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Finally, received a rather apologetic email from the Medals Office in which they said “In the Order of Wear, the Nuclear Test Medal shall sit after the Merchant Navy Medal for Meritorious Service (or any other Efficiency and Long Service Decoration or Medal held) and before the Ebola Medal for Service in West Africa”. So now we know where it is supposed to be placed. 1
bigjarofwasps Posted November 15, 2023 Author Posted November 15, 2023 First group I’ve been able to identify which includes the Police LSGC. Will be interesting to see if there’s others or whether it’s unique? 1
Megan Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Fascinating mix... ex-Navy (member of Royal Naval Association), and long service medals for Police and Cadet Forces... and now the Nuclear Test medal. 1
bigjarofwasps Posted January 21 Author Posted January 21 A very rare DSO to the RFA. I would also hazard a unique group? 1
Megan Posted February 5 Posted February 5 The New Zealand government has decided that New Zealand personnel who attended a British nuclear test are to be awarded this medal - as well as their own Special Service Medal (nuclear testing). https://www.nzdf.mil.nz/media-centre/news/kiwi-veterans-eligible-for-british-nuclear-test-medal/?fbclid=IwAR1BpYkRvHK3R06ZYek-nwKoptwclkM88KhD7JS46Zz04-vBigZQClq1xNg 1
gongz Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Just a bit of clarity I think....The NZ Government is not awarding the medal. Qualifying NZ personnel can apply to the UK govt for the medal, and have NZ approval to wear it. 1
Marcon1 Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Hiya, This article by Michael O'Brien in the latest Medal News magazine might be of some interest. Please note lines 3-4 !! Regards, Marcon1. 2
Megan Posted May 31 Posted May 31 "No specific position for wearing"... not according to the Medals Office, who told me when I enquired “In the Order of Wear, the Nuclear Test Medal shall sit after the Merchant Navy Medal for Meritorious Service (or any other Efficiency and Long Service Decoration or Medal held) and before the Ebola Medal for Service in West Africa”.
