Finally, received a rather apologetic email from the Medals Office in which they said “In the Order of Wear, the Nuclear Test Medal shall sit after the Merchant Navy Medal for Meritorious Service (or any other Efficiency and Long Service Decoration or Medal held) and before the Ebola Medal for Service in West Africa”.

 

So now we know where it is supposed to be placed.

First group I’ve been able to identify which includes the Police LSGC. Will be interesting to see if there’s others or whether it’s unique?

Fascinating mix... ex-Navy (member of Royal Naval Association), and long service medals for Police and Cadet Forces... and now the Nuclear Test medal.

The New Zealand government has decided that New Zealand personnel who attended a British nuclear test are to be awarded this medal - as well as their own Special Service Medal (nuclear testing).

Just a bit of clarity I think....The NZ Government is not awarding the medal. Qualifying NZ personnel can apply to the UK govt for the medal, and have NZ approval to wear it.
