Deutschritter Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 (edited) Gentlemen, this picture is allegedly from 1916 ... my question for the experts: Is he here Feldunterarzt der Reserve, Feldhilfsarzt der Reserve or even already Assistenzarzt der Reserve (his last known rank in WWI)? Thanks! One source states, in WWII he was also Generalarzt, but I cannot find a confirmation. Edited November 29, 2023 by Deutschritter
The Prussian Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Hello! As far as I see, he wears the shoulder board of an "Offizier-Stellvertreter" 1
Deutschritter Posted November 29, 2023 Author Posted November 29, 2023 (edited) Thanks so much ... then he was still Feldunterarzt der Reserve, because this rank was on an equal footing with the deputy officer (Offizier-Stellvertreter). Edited November 29, 2023 by Deutschritter
The Prussian Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Hello! I´ve got a list of the Kriegs-Assistenzärzte (found at "Invenio") until 1918. Unfortunately I´couldn´t find neither a Czerwinski, nor a Rothardt.
Deutschritter Posted November 29, 2023 Author Posted November 29, 2023 (edited) His promotion is said to have happened in 1917, after receiving his doctorate (Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg). Does the list also show the Reserve doctors? Thanks! His units were: Grenadier-Regiment „König Friedrich I.“ (4. Ostpreußisches) Nr. 5 in Danzig (Meldung als Kriegsfreiwilliger), Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 227 (Western Front), Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment 232 and Reserve-Lazarett II in the Landhausschule in Heidelberg. The Prussian Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 (edited) Hi! It's a lange hand-written list you can download for free at Invenio. I also can send it to you after work. I'd need your email adress to send it by "we transfer". It's 500MB lange. Edited November 29, 2023 by The Prussian 1
Glenn J Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Andreas, he was promoted to Feldhilfsarzt from the the rank of Feldunterarzt (Reserve-Lazarett Heidelberg) on 19 June 1916. He was further promoted to Assistenzarzt der Reserve on 23 April 1917. Regards Glenn 2

The Prussian Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 (edited) Ah, right. I didn't had time to check it this morning at 4am... Edited December 1, 2023 by The Prussian 2
Deutschritter Posted November 30, 2023 Author Posted November 30, 2023 Thanks so much, Gentlemen, once again I am in awe of the vast information that can be found. ... and Glenn, what can I say ... just wow! 1
Deutschritter Posted December 3, 2023 Author Posted December 3, 2023 Good morning, Glenn! If you find time, would you please check if Dr. med. Walter Lichtschlag (1889--1969), brother of Freikorpsführer Otto Lichtschlag, was also a Feldhilfsarzt, Feldunterarzt or higher in WWI? Any information would be great. Thanks, Andreas
Glenn J Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Morning Andreas, Feldunterarzt Walter Lichtschlag (Landwehr-Bezirk Wiesbaden) was promoted to Feldhilfsarzt on 25 March 1917 (for the duration of his deployment in the war medical service). I find no further wartime promotion. Regards Glenn 1
