VtwinVince Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 How about another fake EK? This one on German fleabay and over 500 euro.
Stogieman Posted November 16, 2024 Author Posted November 16, 2024 Awful lot of these floating through US eBay, this “set” brought $687!
xxx Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 (edited) "Schrägstichfaker" strikes again?? https://www.ebay.de/itm/205108896244?_skw=orden+spange&itmmeta=01JCVB63NPG3SM8XJNQA0655QP&hash=item2fc17161f4:g:Kv0AAOSwqJpnNye7&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKmCpsgDVcUDHXcna1tShQUSlImFKE9XwsxUXhBlviJBASnLkplbFQODoETV9BXNrhSishX39SBkxEZw7YnScUCMK2wW6PEifCey8jsMU2uzX2uNPNjyln3bX9Uu36LySQY9vduucjPyYup9AnXu0Mx5BoGcVt3cdY72sUIoLqp5ti7yS35BVDH1qnVreros3atBgfde73sXP2GjJueU7Ea94zPIHTW600sNrKBwdtjeE1uZUP%2Bhj101IKS%2FmNJ8E8jisvTqMJJtagU4BGVWQu798fk3L9%2B9PTzpLKqE0POymA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR_a6mOvmZA Edited November 16, 2024 by xxx
VtwinVince Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Yikes, looks like the 'engraving' is cast in to the back.
Stogieman Posted November 25, 2024 Author Posted November 25, 2024 Fake “1813 EK2”, $1013! Man, is this bidder going to be seriously disappointed!
ChrisKelly Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 How can you tell the 1914 EK2 is a fake?
Stogieman Posted November 25, 2024 Author Posted November 25, 2024 Hi Chris, good morning! The one I just posted is a 1914 EK2 that has had the front ground off. The seller sold it as an 1813 EK2, which it’s not. This seller is a well known pusher of fake ODM & badges. The reverse die characteristic is consistent with the 1914 version of the cross. I think others might also comment on the beading as well. An unfortunate and common occurrence these days.
VtwinVince Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 As Rick says, another Frankenkreuz, core details are all wrong for an 1813 example.
Stogieman Posted November 26, 2024 Author Posted November 26, 2024 This person is selling a “PLM” every single week! Who knew they were so common? 😂 Asking was $1950, offered to me for a mere $1600! Someone bought it!
VtwinVince Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 At least the postcards stand a chance of being real.
Stogieman Posted November 30, 2024 Author Posted November 30, 2024 Fake Bavarian case and badge, asking $950, sold to an offer, usual suspect
Stogieman Posted November 30, 2024 Author Posted November 30, 2024 This week’s fake PLM was allegedly a Godet, too funny at $2450! But it was sold! 😂
dond Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Looks like the eagles have chicken pox. The fakers aren't even trying hard anymore.
DD2945 Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Been waiting for that one to pop up in this thread, looks like it’s relisted now. Glad there were no takers on it the first time around.
Stogieman Posted December 3, 2024 Author Posted December 3, 2024 I’m not positive about the case, the maker’s mark looks correct. However I don’t see any way that company made the EK1 with that awful catch on the reverse. Sold for 225 GBP
VtwinVince Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 I think that whole thing is fake, and the seller is a known fraudster.
VtwinVince Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 How about this abomination, anyone know Arabic?
Bernd_W Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Google Lens says "Kaukasus". I guess: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caucasus_campaign
VtwinVince Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 I noticed more material from our friends the Schraegstich Faker and the ueber-fraudster crisnico this morning. Apparently these next generation excellent fakes of Imperial orders are being produced in Slovenia. 1
Stogieman Posted December 8, 2024 Author Posted December 8, 2024 This one went through US eBay for $132, what a piece of 💩 is 1
ChrisKelly Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 That 1870 Mecklenburg-Schwerin Militärverdienstkreuz looks like a badly cast fake. A red flag, something I mentioned in another sub-topic... The Franco-Prussian War actually lasted about five months, 1870-1871. Awards from this war, other than the Prussian campaign medal, are rare. The very idea that something of that nature would show up on ebay, is highly unlikely. These days, sellers know what they have. Nonetheless, the images do assist a lot. Keeps us in the know about what's out there.
