That thread looks pretty modern, and why are the two EK ribbons of such different condition?

EK2 ribbon is dirtier than the HHO one. From the back side they look the same. This is not a recent purchase, I've had this for about 20 years.

Is it my poor eyesight or are the white stripes on the Hohenzollern a different width than the EK2 ribbon?

It is unevenly stretched. Even the EK2 looks like to have different width of white stripes.
