Stogieman Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I watched this auction, there were no bidders. I am unfamiliar with the piece and curious as to what the members think about it. If it’s a copy, please explain how you know that. Thanks in advance!
bolewts58 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 This is the RAO4 mit Schwertern Typ 5. The detail on the swords is quite soft and not well defined. I've never seen one with the huge ball suspension loop before. The reverse center is soft and the obverse central medallion is very poorly painted. Here is an original to compare. 1
Stogieman Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 Good Morning and thank you, I can really see the difference between the examples. Yours looks much better! 1
bolewts58 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) Someone told me that these fakes come out of China. A friend was at a market there and saw all kinds of fake orders. Most of them were Chinese warlord period orders. But there were also some German and Imperial Russian as well. Edited February 4 by bolewts58
VtwinVince Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I call this generation of fake RAO's the 'funky chicken' variant, based on the spurious eagle painting. They've been floating around German fleabay for a few years now.
