Hauptmann Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Hi all,It's been quite a few years since I purchased this piece so I can't remember the exact title for it. Perhaps one of the members who read Russian would be so kind as to translate the inscription as I'm hoping it will give a clue to what it's called. I believe it's a Zhukov Commemorative "medal". It's very well made and a bit on the heavy side. It's metal with paint instead of enamel but I think it's a fine looking piece. I half expected to see another one listed on here but after doing a search I couldn't find any. I haven't seen any on Ebay or anywhere else for the longest time. No idea if they're a bit on the rare side of things or what. Anyhow hope we can learn more about it over time. Thanks, Dan
Riley1965 Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Dan,Judging by the date of the GPW and the ribbon of the Victory Over Germany medal. I would have to say that it is a commemorative badge. Exactly what it's called i don't know. Doc
Guest Rick Research Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 It says "For Courage & Love of the Fatherland."
Riley1965 Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Thanks Rick!! I don't know how to read Russian. I can pick out a few words and in this case go by the date and the ribbon but that's all. Doc
