Ribbon bars with Carl Eduard medal

Dear all, I picked up these ribbon bars some time ago. Something with the Carl Eduard medal was missing from my collection and I' ve been looking for it for quite sometime.

Any thoughts on these? It looks like the bar with the metal backing took a bit of a beating. And could this be a unique combination?

 

Also, how many swords can you fit on a bar...   (probably a lot more...)

Could these be pre-war awards that were upgraded with swords during the war?

More likely the 2 ernestinians after the long service were awarded after the abdication.

Carl Eduard did hand out his gongs at least up to 1935.

Out of curiosity, do we know whether those post war awards included awards with swords?

Yes, definetly... but as swords on the ring, not across the middle.

On a ribbon bar you can not make out the difference.
