Typical "movie prop/costume department" reproduction...  Hallmarked "Ges.Gesch."!  The case is also a reproduction.  I've never seen one in this color or texture.

The case is an obvious repro, it also comes with stylised variation of the cross on the front, found on ek1cases from 1870 with the same brown leatherette finish

There is one on eBay marked Gesch similar to this - I wonder if this was a batch made in the 1980s?

Everyone’s got their own methods for vetting pieces, but for me, assessing 1914 Iron Crosses is one of the easiest.  You can typically look at reverse hardware and in an instant know whether it’s period or not.
