GeorgeCL
Hi,Never seen anything like it..Maybe some kind of private piece, not military service.the long service award is simply a folded st george or st vladimir ribbon superimposed with a buckle with the appropiate amt. of years in roman num. in a wreath.George
Ramblinfarms
Do you know what the heraldry on the reverse side is? Not a Romanov Eagle for sure, but vaguely familiar. Thanks for your reply George.

Ramblinfarms
Thanks Kev. It was $50.00 US. So you think it is a Romanian award? I began to suspect it was not Russian when I could find nothing about it in any reference. The long service awards I had seen that were Imperial Russian were like the ones George had posted.Where do you think the shield piece came from? It looks like it has been on there forever. Thanks,ChrisHallo Ramblinfarms when I saw the picture I knew it reminded me of a Romanian award, but the "shield piece" to the front/rear threw me, I had a quick look in one of my books and found this illustration, please excuse the poor photo of a poor illustration, it is mis-identified in the book as a Civil Service award but I believe it is more correctly for a NCO or a Private with 25 years service. In any case the one in Mannions has been messed with. What price was on it??
GeorgeCL
Hi,The shield piece on the reverse looks to be czarist. Although modified shield and I cant make out the letters placed in the shield or the wording on the bottom..George
Ramblinfarms
It looks Cyrillic and I am not versed in it, but it kind of looks like: "REIPOKOSOKOH" The shield appears to have 3 diamonds in the middle. and yes, it does look like it was added to the cross, and not original.Interesting. Kev in Deva
Hallo Chris. I searched my Romanian reference files and found this picture, its 100% a Royal Romanian Civil Service award that has had the CC cypher of Carol I removed or covered over. Cyrilic was also used by Bulgaria If you need a bigger picture please PM your email address.Kevin in Deva. Chuck In Oregon
<<Did Imperial Russia have a 25 year Long Service Award similar to the Prussian one?>>I know I'm a late responder to this thread, but there was this one. No, not similar to the item in question, but just to remind that such an award did exist.Chuck
Ramblinfarms
Thanks Chuck. That is a beautiful award. Would this be awarded in addition to or in lieu of the Ribbon with metal wreath long service awards?
