svapr Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Hello, I would like some advice. I have these awards. Is it: Luxembourg, Duchy. A Merit Order Of Adolph Of Nassau, Silver Merit Cross, C.1900? Denmark: Christian IX, The Royal Medal of Recompense Russia, Imperial: A Medal For Zeal, Silver Grade, C.1900 I have found that the Danish medal was awarded in about 240 cases. Can anyone advise me on what sources I could use to trace the recipient? Better photo 1
dedehansen Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Hi svapr, I like your little bar, unfortunately I can´t help you. Kind regards Andreas
Great Dane Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Very nice bar! Unfortunately no lists exist for the Danish medal. The gold version was often named on the rim, so some lists were kept. Generally the medal of recompense could be awarded at the sovereign's discretion - often during state visits - and were rarely documented.
saxcob Posted January 25 Posted January 25 If the merit cross shows "1858" instead of "1860" on the reverse, it was awarded in 1909 or later.
saxcob Posted January 25 Posted January 25 A similiar bar from my collection: The merit cross on a single bar:
