Identify insignia

can anybody identify this insignia?

 

Is it military?

 

The weapon was hanging in a B&B in Croatia together with the Oluja Medal.

This is a Serbian symbol, an orthodox cross surrounded by four cyrillic letters "C", standing for Само слога Србина спасава, Only Unity Saves the Serbs. Looks like trench art on a AK-74-style Zastava stock. Given your description of the context in which you took the photo, I'd assume a war trophy that a Croat soldier picked during the war.

Far from being an expert but I think it's a hunting rifle of sorts.
