EK 1939 New item in my collection

I've just secured this piece for my collection. It's not in my hand yet but when I get it I'll post some detailed pictures of the interesting bits if anyone wants to see them.

I've been after one for a long time but have only just managed to get my mitts on one. I've handled one before and can't decide whether it's a thing of beauty or a madcap Heath-Robinson monstrosity.

The KMST marked EK1s are amongst the most desirable 1914 pieces. The one you have is extremely rare. I have heard it suggested that this particular fitting was designed to somehow fit on the Cuirasse breastplate worn by elite units such as the Garde-du-Corps.

I have seen this particular type fetching insane prices.

Thanks chaps. Gordon, I've not heard that before about the possible breastplate fitting. Do you know what this speculation is based upon?
