Jef
hello,In my collection I have a ribbon bar with another type of crossed swords. Never saw this before on the Hindenburgkreuz ribbon. It looks like Belgian crossed sabres. Is this rubbish?Jef[attachmentid=45421][attachmentid=45420]
Guest Rick Research
Correct? No.Bizarre? Yes.If the blades bent the other way, yours would be TURKISH[attachmentid=45426]As the scan above shows, Medjidie (and the even rarer Osmanie) Orders with Swords generally used the same style of sabers or "pirate cutlass" swords found on the "1332" date bars for Imtiaz and Liakat Medals, which usually had that bar snipped off when used for orders. The upper bar is an example of that, while the lower one shows the correct style sabers actually on the full sized Orders. Here's a Liakat, close up. Except for the way the swords are crossed, yours would be a match for Turkish:[attachmentid=45427]
Tom Y
The 70/71 issue of the Schaumburg-Lippe MVM had crossed sabers as a ribbon device. Could be a make-do with old stock.
