JapanX Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 You don’t see them often ... To say nothing about seeing them on eBay ... And (as we know http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/56351-golden-kite-breast-badge-with-bring-back-papers-on-ebay/) you certainly shouldn’t sell one through eBay Nevertheless …. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Japanese-Enamel-Medal-Order-of-the-Golden-Kite-1st-Class-Breast-Badge-/380629665847?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item589f4bc837#ht_562wt_1141 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-WWII-Japanese-Enamel-Medal-Order-of-the-Golden-Kite-/380629662732?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item589f4bbc0c#ht_562wt_1141
JapanX Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Nice set (without box and sash) from WWII. Breast star
JapanX Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Overall nice condition Enamel chips and cracks here and there + one screw is missing
JapanX Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 (edited) Only one ray was heavily damaged (and it looks like this happened not too long ago) Edited April 29, 2013 by JapanX
JapanX Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 (edited) Another photo of obverse Edited April 29, 2013 by JapanX
JapanX Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Practically identical piece (from the same time period) can be found on page 15 of Peterson book "Orders and Medals of Japan and Associated States”, 3rd edition.
utopis Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Yes, I saw this one two. Not in best condition though. It will be interesting to see what the final bid will be.
Gensui Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 …what really hurts me is the fact, that this set was broken into several auctions. Hopefully, the lucky bidder will be able to get it complete…!
JapanX Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 Not in best condition though. Personally I'd give it 6,5 out of 10 Yes, I saw this one two. Not in best condition though. It will be interesting to see what the final bid will be. Well, I don't think the price will be astronomical, especially since the seller "will be unable to falsify customs forms" + "tough economic times"
paul wood Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 It's almost as if somebody broke into a Jap collector's home took what he could and then listed it any old how. Whoever the vendor is he is certainly ESM. Paul
JapanX Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 …what really hurts me is the fact, that this set was broken into several auctions. But maybe some guys need only the sash badge
JapanX Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 It's almost as if somebody broke into a Jap collector's home took what he could and then listed it any old how. Yes, but all boxes and ribbons are missing. So after all it could be from "from one ex-vet's collection" Whoever the vendor is he is certainly ESM. Sounds mysterious
