JapanX Posted September 17, 2013 Author Share Posted September 17, 2013 Amazing set of miniatures that belonged to Dr. Thomas Wiltberger Evans (December 23, 1823 – November 14, 1897) who was a dentist for many heads of state. He died in Paris, where he had lived for many years, and was buried in Woodlands Cemetery, Philadelphia. In his will, he left money and land for the founding of what was to become the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Currently his awards are on display in Leon Levy Dental Medicine Library at University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA. It has belonged to a Swedish adventurer who was travelling a little around 1900 - the most interesting piece is the Swedish Medal for Bravery in the Field in Gold which have been awarded only twice with crown. Enjoy ... Actually there is no special "with crown" class of the bravery medal. But some people wore it with crown, maybe because it was a royal medal? I have photos of four different guys wearing it with crown. Two of those were in the Persian police force. So maybe it's a late addition...
