    1. Rudolf Hertzberg was born on March 1st, 1887 in Polzin as the 8th child of Leo Hertzberg of Polzin. (The only family by the name of Hertzberg living in Polzin) Schütze Rudolf Hertzberg served with the 3rd Kompanie of Garde-Reserve-Schützen-Bataillon. He was severly wounded in December 1914 and died in the Haupt-Festungs-Lazarett in Posen on January 11, 1915. http://www.denkmalprojekt.org/2013/garde-res-schue-btl_A-L.html IMO, the faker got the name from the wrong Verlustliste. I
    2. Chris, the birth date is mentioned for Rudolf Hertzberg and only one family by the name of Hertzberg lived in Polzin at the time. http://www.geni.com/people/Rudolf-Hertzberg/6000000025261532377

    5. With sadness I read this. Goodbye my friend Hardy
    6. I have a Militaerpass to a Feldpionier of 5./Pionier-Bataillon Nr.15 - with the entries: "Kampf um Fort Vaux" "Kämpfe südlich Fort Vaux, Berg- und Lauffée-Wald" Will post images later
    7. I'm puzzled as well. IMO, there is absolutely nothing in this Pass that warrants the sale price.
    8. The man joined as a 2 year volunteer in 1910. Maschinengewehr-Abteilung Nr.2 in Trier - MGA2 was placed with the III. Bataillon Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 29 "von Horn". He trained as a machine gunner and was able to be a Feldwaffenmeister-Gehilfe armorer assistant. Recalled in 1914 and assigned to the first machinegun company of Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr.56, he fought from 1914 to the end of the war. In October 1916 awarded the Iron Cross II List of engagements
    9. I know that there were several Infantry Regiments that wore by regulation Swedish cuffs. ... but this is not one of them. A group of soldiers belonging to 3. Kompagnie, Württemberg IR126 - dated; August 26, 1915 Sender, Landsturmmann Friedrich Schmid - 15. Armeekorps, 3. Division, IR126, 3. Komp, I. Bataillon I also have a M10 NCO tunic with red piped Swedish cuffs to a Infanterie Regiment that according to regulation had Brandenburg cuffs. What is the explanation for red piped Swedish cuffs in Infantry Regiments that wore Brandenburg cuffs?
    10. Chip, thanks! Do you have any details on the order to shorten the length of the Tressen? I have seen the shortened Tressen on many photos of early-war field uniforms - (and own a NCO tunic with the shortened Tressen on the collar and cuffs). What I noticed is that the sleeve Tressen on Vizefeldwebel with Swedish cuffs are only present between the cuff buttons and on some tunics they are present only on the corners of the cuffs. Also it seems after 1915/16 the field-grey Tressen were applied in full length on the collars again. What does it say in the regulations about wearing the shortened NCO Tressen? Were the regulations changed again with the introduction of the 1915 tunic and field-gray Tresse? Hardy
