    1. Claudio this is an old thread but I just came across - very nice Bars! The writing on the back reads: "Name evt. (eventuell) Siegfried Raun" Hardy
    2. What is on the shoulder strap? (no spurs and big hobnails, therefore not mounted) P.Z.5 = Pionierzug 5 ? But Pioniere had Swedish cuffs the soldiers in the above photo have Brandenburg cuffs (Infanterie) Hardy
    3. Enzo, I agree, most likely a Souval. I would like to see some other ?sterreichische Reiterabzeichen and find out more about its history. Question: is it the post-war (WWII) equivalent to the German Reiterabzeichen or did it exist before 1938? Thanks again, Hardy
    4. Quite possible Enzo; The quality of the material and craftsmanship is outstanding . The needle block is solid and the needle is fluted (standards not found on German post war badges) Hardy
    5. from: RJ Marrion, Lancers and Dragoons - Uniforms of the Imperial German Cavalry 1900-1914
    6. Joel, from your pictures the yellow looks very pale. If so, it's likely the 4th or the 21nd Dragoner Regiment. from: RJ Marrion, Lancers and Dragoons - Uniforms of the Imperial German Cavalry 1900-1914 Hardy
    7. Thanks again Chip; it does not look like a 3, more like a 5 - but who knows Hardy
    8. comparison between two original S&L Reiterabzeichen in bronze left: early post war (1960s) - right: WWII (zinc 1942) note the different text on the back Hardy
    9. For comparison: Two original Reiterabzeichen -left a Lauer, right a S&L. (note while on the Lauer the rider relaxes his right arm, showing the elbow behind his back, on the S&L the rider holds both arms parallel. the minis Hardy
    10. Second photo shows him in the same uniform but with a different rank and regimental number Offizierstellvertreter (cannot quite read the board number - the second digit appears to be a 5)
    11. The first photo shows him wearing a Feldwebel uniform with the number 73 on his shoulder strap - button indicating 1. Kompanie. (Note the different Korkarde!)
    12. With the above picture came this gray, thick envelope In it were two portraits of the NCO, still wrapped in cellophane
    13. Some photos of this unknown NCO (perhaps we can find out more about him) onthe back of this picture is written "Emden Weihnachten 1915" and here is a detail: showing a picture of his family, Adventskranz with its four candles (one for every Sunday in December), a picture of his daughter and one of himself.
