    1. A full research has been ordered.
    2. award book Can someone tell me what the serial numbers 54928, 5768 are for as they are missing from the group?
    3. My HSU arrived today. COLONEL FROLOV, MIKHAIL ALEXEEVITCH Article from the Heroes Encyclopedia ("Shturmovik" pilot, 98 combat sorties with 3 recorded kills and lots of ground targets destroyed, HSU received on August 18, 1945). From the limited information we were able to find on the Russian Internet it looks like after the war he became a test pilot, got injured in a crash and had a surgery performed on his spine, but got back to flying despite all odds, and had at least a couple of more brushes with death. Apparently he was test flying SU-24 and MiG-29. Looks like this part of his life is still partially classified.
    4. I guess the guy who put them up for auction was icredibley stupid and thought no one would notice or he simply had no idea they were stolen. Glad to see that the Russian Government was able to stop the auction and hopefully get them back to their rightful owners.
    5. Yes it is. Do we really want stolen orders and medals in our collections. I don't. I suspect that the orders being auctioned were likely stolen. Not an uncommon event in Russia, given the value of those rare orders. I think Russia has the right to go after stolen items, if they are truely stolen and can be proven. Many Museums and state reserves have been looted, and have no place in private collections. I would not be suprised to see Russia start to go after large dealers who have very very rare items for sale. Wanting to know how they obtained them and from whom.
    6. I just wonder why the much higher price because it is a re-issue it still is a type 2 order not a type 1. Other than it is a lower serial.
    7. Hello Jim Can you forward to me that research on the mint error medals? If so email me at : ronboomsma@shaw.ca Thanks
    8. Hey, I really hope your right that they are true mint errors. One of the reasons I added them to my collection.
    9. I am sure Mondvor will comment on these medals. It is true they were produced in 1993. But when I last talked to Mondvor on this he was unable to find any evidence either way if they are authentic or deliberitly produced or a true mint error. Paul Mcdaniel feels they real and are in his book. I disagree they are not collectable, I have managed to get both and find them interesting and very collectable. I doubt many of us have one, or better yet both.
    10. Wow! How many are there of those? Only 3 were given out correct? What would something like that be worth????
    11. Is that Hero yours ED????
    12. If it came for Alexei it is genuine, your belgrade looks good to me from what I can see.
    13. Thanks, I have since managed to fit in a few more medals in the display. I have also started getting research on some of the more important combat orders. Which has improved my collection by adding the history to the orders, and who earned them. I also have managed to fill a few more holes in my Mongolian orders too :-)
    14. I think Doilf is right. I have mostly what I want, there are still a few more I want but no money for it at this time. Maybe next year I will add a few items, but thats it for me. For now
    15. Hello Bob Yes they seemed to have disappeared the regular sellers on ebay from mongolia. Go to Alexei, he seems to have a good supplier now and his prices are more than fair.
    16. Thanks. I contacted someone who has a set for sale. Wife says she will buy them for me as a early Xmas present. So I guess this winter I know what I will be doing.
    17. Interesting that he went against Stalins change of orders for 1945 and kept his red banners as screwbacks and actually changed his number 4 to screwback. His file says he retired as a General major. He also was in the Finnish war. His file also says he went against some order on the front, and he ended up being right so he was not purged for going against orders.
    18. Well dave I got his personal file etc here is what he looked like: Just have to have my wife read it all for me now.
    19. Well I got his service record and personal file. Here is what he looked like and he is wearing my red banner #4. You can see he removed the suspension to match the other 3 red banners. So he was the one who converted it. So I will not try now to convert it back to a suspension and just leave it as is.
    20. But anyway ofr finding out who he is. Is there a data base some where or website show photos of Hero's?
    21. Hello I need some help Identifiing this hero of the Soviet Union. Photo was taken in 1982 in the City of Rostov-on-Don. My wife is the second girl from the left of him. She can not remember who he was. Does anyone recognize him??? Many thanks.
