    1. As it had been painted, the finish looks as thought the paint has bubbled. But again poor mis casting on the guide area for the plate, not a crisp shape normally seen.
    2. However the reverse shows it all under any light. First clue is too obvious, wrong pinplate for the guide. However, I suppose you could claim that there may have been a shortage of the correct plates...... But there's more. Tell tale pitting from the casting over the back which is under the finish. Also deformity on the shaping of the plate guide.
    3. Well that's true, it wasn't a fair question with such a poor picture & no reverses. Here's the first one. It doesn't show on this scan because of the bright light but the front has some artificial aging, probably heated with a flame.
    4. Ok time for a bit of education here & fun here. From my rather poor picture at the top of this thread can anyone tell me which 2 badges I believe to be cast copies....... I shall post scans later to explain my theory. Cheers Don
    5. Benton, For you. Matt, Close, but no cigar.... M1/24's Scott, Good to see you here Cheers Don
    6. While we're on the subject, i may as well post an image of the one I already had..... Unmarked. Cheers Don

    8. Hi Kevin, Yes, the colour of the border signifies the level of command the member of staff held: Blue for Orts Black for Kries (between 1933-1938) White for Kries (from 1939-1945) Red for Gau Yellow for Reich The size of the silver edging around the badge broke the command down still further. Cheers Don
    9. Thought you may enjoy seeing what arrived yesterday. There's a few doubles that will need re-homing, but on the whole a pleasing haul. If you wish to see more detailed shots of any, just ask otherwise I won't take up space posting them all. Cheers Don
    10. Here's one I picked up in the recent GMIC auction, a Reichsbund Deutscher Seegeltung (RDS). Cheers Don
    11. The badge that Robert refers to in H?sken is for the Austrian Heimwehr. Cheers Don

    13. That's better Peter, you can stay I really like these Scandinavian items, I think they are very underated by Third Reich Collectors. If you have more perhaps we could start a seperate thread for them? Cheers Don
    14. Rick is on the ball here..... Definitely one for the hall of shame. Cheers Don
    15. Peter, It never ceases to amaze me just how skilled the people who made the dies for these must have been. We take this sort of thing for granted nowdays with modern machines & cutters, but 70 years ago it was all done by hand. Cheers Don
    16. Oi! Who let that red spy in......... Nice pin Peter, not to my taste, but nice Like the RAD pin Robert. I recently came across a picture of one of these being worn by a young soldier, haven't managed to secure it yet..... Cheers Don
