Hi Lars, Thank you for posting the reverse. It's a damn shame that the maker mark can't be read, I've often wondered who made them. I can't really provide much information about them. I've only seen KdF versions with the names of either "MS Wilhelm Gustloff" or "ES Robert Ley" on the lower part of the wheel. They can be found with various designs of flag on them (I'll post three of mine), until now I have not seen one with a maker mark or without a name on the front. As to their use, according to JR Cone in his booklet "One People, One Reich", these were Crew members badges for the Yachts presented to Hitler, the "Eva", "Geli Raubel" & "Robert Ley". However there is no reference as to where he obtained this info & we now know that there are many mistakes in the book. Angolia shows a couple of examples in his book "Labour Organisations of the Third Reich" & also lists them as crew members badges, but makes no other reference to them. Personally my own feeling is that they were souvenir pins sold to the tourists on the KdF Cruise ships, but that is purely a theory. Here's the first of mine a Gustloff with Party Flag. Cheers Don

Can't see any problems. To be honest, I don't recall ever seeing a fake of one of these yet. Cheers Don -

It's one of the harder pieces to find. However when it comes to value I always say that they are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. I have paid high amounts for items that others would not have paid, purely because I wanted it. Likewise, I often feel a item isn't worth what another is asking for it so will not buy. It's purely down to personal opinion I'm afraid. If you are happy with it & the price you paid for it, then enjoy it. Cheers Don

Nice badge Sean, thanks for showing it, sorry for my late reply, I have been away. Here are a couple of links showing other Christian badges here on the forum...... Hi Scott, Here goes: 1. Freiwilliger Arbeitsdienst, 23.3 mm; Assmann & Sohne / Ges. Gesch Personally I can't see anything wrong with this badge.... 2. R.D.K., 24.9 mm; Ges. Gesch. / Circle-B I've never really trusted the "B" in a circle mark on any badge. Fakers widely produce badges with this mark & whether a maker used the mark during the period is not really known. I think in this case it comes down to whether you like the badge or not 3. Deutsche Kindershar N.S.F., 17.9 mm; RZM M1/63 Another controversial badge amongst enamel collectors. Most do not like the full RZM M1/63 marked versions, however I do feel that providing the other criteria of patina, flecks in the white enamel, wear etc fits then possibley it's a good piece. 4. D.S.B., 24 mm; Ges.Gesch. / HA Bad I'm afraid. The mark on the reverse is a poor copy of the Aurich mark, if you look closely it's more of a "B" over the "A" rather than an "H" as it should be. Also Genuine ones have a far better detailed number of dots within the red enamel of the roof. Check this link out that shows other examples of Aurich marks http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=5892 5. Adolf Hitler 1933, 22.9 mm; RZM / Ges. Gesch I'm sure that you know the many arguments that surround these badges. Personally I would not go near an RZM'd piece, especially when there isn't an M1 code with it. 6. Deutschland Erwache 1933, 22.9 mm; RZM / Ges. Gesch Ditto for the badge above. Cheers Don

Sorry for replying so late Peter, as you know I've had a few problems lately. I'm also sorry that no one else here was able to help you with this. As you know I have not had one of these, however I have seen them around a few times. From what I've seen of others they are far more detailed than the one you show here, the eagles head for instance is always clearly defined as are the details around the sword hilt & eagles feet. I'm not sure that I like the one you show........ Sorry. Cheers Don
