    1. I don't think it's fake. At the worst it could be played with, as in the picture added later etc. I see rust marks on the last page where the dome of the clips touch the paper. Is there corresponding rust on the clips? The same for the front part of the books some rust but does it match the clips? Cheers Don
    2. This badge is a commemorative award. It was awarded to all females who had honourably completed their service with the RADwj. It was a kind of "passing out award" & came in three grades metal, which was a dark zinc sort of colour, silver & gold. I'm a little worried about yours as going by the pictures it looks cast, but it could just be the image. Here's a picture of one in wear. Cheers Don
    3. Volksbund f?r das Deutschtum im Ausland, an organisation representing Germans living in other countries. Cheers Don
    4. Thanks Stephen, I was hoping someone had one. I've noticed a similarity with all of these that may just be an optical illusion, but it looks to me that the letter "R" in Ring looks larger than the one in Opfer..... anyone else see it? Cheers Don
    5. Stephen, I've often wondered about this picture, is he the winner of the lottery, or perhaps did he sell more tickets that any others in his area & receive a ticket or award/voucher? He must have been proud in any case to have his portrait taken, as it's a private photo not a press image. The wording on his folder says Dein Opfer, google comes up with your victim which I guess is not the case here Here's the ticket, best I can do. [attachmentid=37151] Here's the cap badge, matches the wording on the ticket. I'd love one of these badges..... [attachmentid=37152] Robert, There are some stamps but only for 1936. Nice pin, I won't post mine as it's the same, but I'm curious as to whether there are any maker marked ones out there, I've only seen Ges. Gesch. Cheers Don
    6. A WHW man who one an award for service during the winter 1933-34 wears the standard membership pin. Cheers Don
    7. In case anyone is confused, I'm moved the last few posts regarding the Steno pins to a new thread here http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=7890 Cheers Don
    8. As you can see I've started a fresh thread on the Steno' organisation. The above posts were taken from the Stickpin thread & I've edited them slightly to "fit" them here. Please post any Steno related items you have. I'll start off with a members book & pin set I have. The cover has bleached out for some reason in the picture I'm afraid, but is actually a deep blue colour. Cheers Don
    9. This is what the ribbon should look like, white, red, white, red, white, red, white. The centre red being wider. The hunt is now on for an original ribbon. Cheers Don
    10. Here's another, this one from Th?ringen. A bronze 25yr service medal, unfortunately it came with the incorrect ribbon which I have removed. This version also came in silver for 33 years service & gold for 40 years. The scan really doesn't do this justice, the medal is so finely struck with beautiful detail. This is the first pattern, there were also two other patterns issued in Th?ringen, an enamelled cross & a gold cross. Cheers Don
    11. Not really sure what to make of it. Never seen one before apart from the diagram in H?sken. Cheers Don
    12. Excuse the difference in size of the above scans, they were done at different times. The badges are all the same size. Here's the card with matching badge. Cheers Don
    13. Pete, I remember you posting as well, I think it may have been on another forum though... I have 3, Baden, Sachsen & Lübeck. There are also those with only NSDAP on the reverse but as yet I don't have one. I'm not sure how many different ones there are. I've always thought these were worn by the donation collectors as well, but recently I came upon a Mitglied book for these & it states that the book has to be carried at all times that the badge is worn but doesn't seem to have any reference to it being anything other than a standard donation card so I don't know. I think the person who owned the card was an enamel collector as well as there is only one donation stamp in it, just enough to get the badge..... Here's my Lübeck Cheers Don
    14. Sorry Dan, it's the Deutsche Stenografenschaft Leistungsabzeichen in Bronze, it also came in silver & gold, but I don't know exactly what it was awarded for. When you say the "brooch like version with date", do you mean the "Deutscher Meister" version like below? If so do you have one as I've never seen one of these only in drawings. If you do have one, don't post it here, start a new thread & we'll put the Steno stuff together. Cheers Don
    15. I'm afraid not Robert, although I do have somewhere pix of the standard blue enamel version, & the rectangle gold bordered ones in wear. I'll dig them out & post them later. Cheers Don
    16. Very nice Florian, wonderful to see such items Cheers Don
    17. Excellent!! Thanks for that, I'd never seen one before. Cheers Don
    18. All of it It's always nice to see what people have in their display cases Cheers Don
    19. Thanks for clearing that up Rick, as I said, I never really given it much thought before I do think that these state long service awards are an undervalued & under researched area. Cheers Don
    20. I'd never really thought about it but I guess (without looking up the dates) that the Faithful Service Cross may well be the National replacement for the regional awards. This happened with the Fire Service awards, individual states issued their own until 1936 when the Reich version came in & replaced them. From what I understand with the Bavarian one, the pre TR version had an acorn where the Swastika is, but I've never seen one of these. Cheers Don
    21. Nope, I've never seen any paperwork either. Mark, I believe these are literally long service awards for the Bavarian Chamber of commerce. People who had worked for the State of Bavaria for the requisit number of years recieved one. There was also a gold coloured one for 50 years. What interests me about this is that you find them with various marks, silver content marked like yours, with "fine silber", & sometimes with nothing at all. I'm not sure why, whether some are fakes or period copies, or just a different production I don't know..... I do love 'em though. Cheers Don
