    1. Hi, but they are so much bigger than the other ones? Best Chris
    2. These metal numbers are seen on Kepis from WW1 for the regimental numbers... but I am not sure what the letters are for? Does anyone know?
    3. Hi, I just bought 1kg of French insignia, mainly because I needed the stars for the CdG... but these were also these gold stars, a bit bigger than the ones for medal ribbons... are these for some kind of rank?
    4. Hi, If someone is a "Luftschiffer" (as in "Luftschiffer Smith"), does this mean he is an actual balloonist, or could he simply be a member of a Luftschiffer Abteilung? i.e. is it a designation of speciality, or simply a collective term for a private in a Luftschiffer Abteilung? Thanks Chris
    5. Hi, does anyone know how many Jewish Officers served. What % made it to Capatain or higher... how much discrimination was there keeping Jewish officers in lower officers ranks, or not even making it to officer. Thanks Chris
    6. Hi, does anyone have any information on the collar badges/Patcvhes? Would they have been Crimson Rectangels? Thanks Chris
    7. Hi,if you check out post 3 here.... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/10820-schutztruppe-iron-crosses/?hl=%2Bvon+%2Bhadeln#entry105611 Von Hadeln seems to have been repatriated to Germany during the war... and paroled, not rejoining the army. I assume them in November 1918 he was joining a Freikorps of some sort? Where would this have fit into the big picture? In the 30s he was Major a.D. so he must have been promoted twice after 1918? Does anyone have any ideas?
    8. Really, really FANTASTIC !!!!!! This has been the Book/Document concept that really does justice to the subject. I have to wait till next month for more militaria purchases, but will definately be getting one!!!
    9. Is he competing with us!?!?!?!?!? :-) But I dont discriminate... I take officers as well :-)
    10. Not only is the EK1 pretty scarce for Bavarian NOS and other ranks... but it looks like the guys on the left and right have Bavarian Bravery Medal Ribbons... From the happy looks, it may be the award day for the EK1s....
    11. Indeed... but I have just noticed... he still has his regular one in the sheath... and it is the same one as the two guys below him! Wonder why he did not put it on?
    12. Of note is... between the trigger and the bolt.....
    13. Dave, that is superb, thanks. I have a bit of really juicy 1919-1945 stuff, but had found nothing WW1 era... He apparently made it to EK1 in WW1, and a wound badge.
    14. I wonder if this is the man! Name: Richard Kantorowicz Birth Date: 7 Feb 1876 Birth Place: Posen, Poland Last Residence: Berlin W 50, Tauentzienstr. 6
    15. Hi, thanks, he must have transfered to the FAR 217 later then, I think it was formed in 1915. Best Chris
    16. Hi, would "Stabsveterinär dr. Kantorowicz" be an active or possibly a reserve rank? He served in Feld Artillerie Regiment 217, thanks Chris
    17. Hi Glenn, thanks, how far removed is that from the artillery red? Sometimes the differences are so subtle I cannot see them :-( Best Chris
    18. Hi, what would the correct piping for Vets be? I have seen shoulder boards with Violet, with green and with red underlays... which is correct? :-( Would being attached to a Artillery regiment make a difference? Thanks Chris
    19. Any Guesses what he will get for this? http://www.ebay.de/itm/aussergewohnliches-Kombi-Etui-fur-2-Orden-eisernes-Kreuz-EK1-EK2-WK-Ritterkreuz-/121339676432?pt=Militaria&hash=item1c40688710
