    1. Thanks to a tip on SDA I have found him.... Strangely in his records no EK2 is mentioned... it may be a postwar award..... Fritz Traugott Schulz... museum direktor and head curator of the Germanischen Nationalmuseum in Nürnberg. Interestingly enough he was arrested by the NAZIs on the 22 March 1933.. on the 2oth Himmler had announced the ipening of Dachau, on the 22nd the first 150 political prisonners arrived... seems to be a big coincidence... After his release he had been removed from his position at the Museum and forced to retire...
    2. Indeed... it is smaller than the Leiberring, and not possible to identify unfortunately... he has no edelweiss, so not really one of the "old Guard"... maybe he did not have the 24 months at the front, ot this pic was taken before the last round of awards where he may have gotten one...
    3. Wow.... it was a loooong search..... I finally found a pic of a leiberring being worn... this photo must have been just after the end of the war with the reservisten sticks...... the >NCO on the right was in the regiment at least from 1915.... and on his right hand.....
    4. Mauser did not write "super accurate" on their production G98 ? n.A. ist used in German military items when there is an officially recognised change as far as I know... some bayonets are designated n.A. for example
    5. On one side of the basement I have my "trench" ... now, on the other side I made a "wall" to photograph my Dress uniforms....
    6. Hi, Busch is an unusual maker for the 03, but the term "D.F. 03" was an official title which all makers of Issued glasses used... I do not think a singlr maker could change it to imply his product was better ?
    7. Hi, am i correct in assuming these should date to 1915... still have a red underlay, but have Matt instead of Silver tops.... and do not yet have the green underlay for Jäger?
    8. Hi, was there a practicle purpose for the braiding on the front of the tunic? Ithink the British Arty had it as well.
    9. "I agree that a direct translation of the ILR into English makes little sense and does not capture the meaning, although "Infantry Life Guards Regiment" is probably a little better than "Body Regiment" " Indeed... standard on Regimental Bier mugs is the sentence "The regiment which calls itself "The Garde""
    10. Hi, the D.F.03 was already a Prismatic model, that is why "D.F.03 n.A." is a mystery to me
    11. It took some time to find a decent pair of 03 with a Bavarian stamp.... and here they are.... does anyone know what the "Neuer Art" (n.A.) are?
    12. aaaaahhhh... yes, that's it! the 1911 version.... I wonder what Leutnant Schulz did to get one... Only 21 awards between 1905 and 1918 (Model 4+5 combined this being model 5) ! ... does that classify as rare?
    13. From his position at the Stellv Gen. Kdo III b.A.K. I am guessing it is a homefront EK2.... but what is the last medal on that bar???
    14. I don't know if a missing liner can rule a cap out... It can raise the quaetion of why it is missing, but I have had a number of good caps with liners missing.... I think it is simply impossible to even guess with these photos
    15. Super Pic.... pity if he were to slip between the cracks of history...
    16. Magic GreyC, thank you.... he does indeed have an 11 on the shoulder...you saved him the indignity of landing up on ebay again!! Off to my 11th BIR binder he goes...
    17. I like the way he has his medals mounted as they would have been in 1918... Bavarian ones first... not spoiled by later awards like the Ehrenkreuz... Photo taken in 1970
    18. Good question... it is hard to tell as he is wearing an Überrock.... which in itself makes me think he must have been very at home in Bad Tolz..... However, even google does not have a Schückinger?
    19. Just found this in my boxes today... he is the navy officer on the left...
    20. The head honcho seems to have aschinger Borte... some have sleeve badges on the left, some have them on the right... a few look to have bavarian roots.... Is it a huuuge staff?
    21. Thanks.... mannnnnnn... another one slipped through in Ancestry.... he is not listed ?
    22. Hi, signed Hermann ... is his last name Schükrieger??? Thanks Chris
