    2. It is ideed a group from Sturm bataillon Rohr, an eyewitness account I read spoke of them arriving with their leather reinforced trousers, cloth gaiters, helmets and Sturm Troop gear, relieving the ceremonial guard troops.... their "frontschwein" appearance did not please all officers at the HQ.
    3. Very nice indeed!! A fuse like that has eluded me for ages... bet you are happy you did not sell it back then!!!
    4. Hi, it would be unusual to value a british medal without taking the bars into account. Best Chris
    5. Indeed, but as a document collector i like my guns like I like my documents, with as much research potential as possible ;-) I once saw a nice pic of Canadians with MGs captured on the canal du Nord.... cannot help wondering if my baby is amongst them. Unfortunately my Grantenwerfer 16 are not on the list.
    6. Here is a thought... the ersatz Battalion of the 51st FAR was somehow involved with the 30 RD, which would put them bang in the mountains of the Vogesen... which would fit. In 1916 the 30th Bav Res Div had a Mountain Batterie.... I am guessing this is with the Ersatz Batterie of the 30th Res Div
    7. Although some regiments had to give up their G98s when they left the Western front and got G88s for their time on the eastern front!!

    11. Here is a favourite.... out of a local house, sheath stamped "U2" on the spine a simple Crown with a "3" under it. Maker F Koehler & Co Ohliss Solingen
    12. Wow... that box must be 100 times rarer than the medal?
    13. What are the 2 shells on the left? Is that a pipe bomb back left?????
    14. See... if you had lived your life right... they would all be buying for you!
    15. But you still need one of these!!!! Ignore the Fly paper please... thats only there to make Tony feel welcome after years in Australia.....
    16. Mine was captured by the canadians on the canal du Nord, My MG08/15... that was a bummer.... there are two with the same number captured by Canadainas.... one with a fantastic story, and one without.... As mine had been given to a certain University after the war, I was able to establish it was the one WITHOUT the sexy story.... :-( Still, not the end of the world... I love em to bits....
