    1. See in the photo above how the plate has been "formed" to accomodate the plate?
    2. You can see how it curves a but.... and here is the curved Erfurt with and without a plate....
    3. Hi, Not a hammer amigo! The 1915 Erfurt were not straight along the back... even when tey added the metal plate they had to bend it.... Here is a 1915 Erfurt with one of the regular ones with a straight flat plate...
    4. A white piped Sew on, a no piped, a white piped sew in(Bavarian grouping) and one that is for some pre war Bavarian tunic (these are slip in ones with straps on the back). Muchos Grazias :-) cHRIS
    5. Ok, I realise people have explained things in the past, but I am still in the dark..... Can anyone run through the basic types?
    6. This was interesting to see as a non bayonet guy.... look how the top of the handle of the early Erfurt is not straight, there is a slight dip....
    7. Hi Chip, It took me quite a few years to find "the one" but its probably not the only "one" out there.... If he can find a rally nice one to replace it, I am willing to trade. I know very well how it is to look for specific units and miss out on a piece.... Tell him to drop me a line. Best Chris
    8. I have a few rules for my collection... to try and keep it within limits. 1) No pants, No boots..... i.e. nothing below the waistline.... saves lots of money and place 2) No Austrian as it is a slippery slope into another collecting field So I do German, French, a bit of US and UK..... all above the waist.... With those rules I dont have to feel grumpy when i am standing there without trousers.....
    9. think it is an impossible call... I know many folks dont believe in it... but sometimes I think you need to hold a piece and "get a feel for it".... there are probably half a dozen small things you notice without realising it. From the pictures, I would consider it for my collection.... (but I am not a Uniform guy so my opinion may be taken with a pinch of salt)
    10. Hi, the schlaufe here are too narrow to fold anything underneath it, it is maybe 1.5cm wide and is just wide enough to slip the Lasche on the back of the board through it, Best Chris P.S. If anyone feels like going the thread on the different kinds of OR boards, i would be greatful, I am a bit in the dark about the different kinds. :-)
    11. It seems only to exist on that site.... maybe they just created it to show what they are able to design and make?
    12. Does anyone have any further info about the pure silver DSWA medals ?? I never knew they existed!!
    13. I served with a distant relative of his... I have never known someone who looks more like a skull with skin!
    14. Hi, I begin to like them as well... I will get some more detailed Photos up this week... I found some nice little details on them that I had never noticed before... if anyone else has any... feel free to post, wouple be interested in seeing the grips and stamps on them.
    15. Hi Adler, I dont :-) I just know so little about Uniforms that I am always prepared for someone to jump in and say "Actually, this is a Hessen Leib Grenadiere cavalry eskadron adjutant a la suite hat ".... So better to ask ;-)
