    1. Hi, I am also confused by the width of the stripes. From the positioning I think it should be bavarian, but from the ribbon I also think Baden is more likely. Best Chris
    2. Does anyone know who made these? They have the stamp (looks like "W") on the small loop.
    3. This is an interesting postcard... I am assuming it is 4 Brothers killed in the war and that the mother wore the Iron Cross on a plain black ribbon.
    4. There was a thread that identified the arm badge but unfortunately I cannot find it anymore. But this guy has a really, really impressive "collection"...
    5. Thanks, I have made 1917 my cut off year, so MP and Tankgewehr are not needed (and save myself loads of money ;-) Best Chris
    6. Hi, I think Ben is spot on, this may be an EK2 core that has been upgraded. I would not spend any real money on it. Best Chris
    7. Hi, I imagine in the old if they were approved in the old. I ws rectified in Bosnia, but kept my Legion name till we got back because they figured the UN would not understand a name change... so my UN medal is on the Legion name although I was rectified at the time. I really wonder if that list of names was released (I doubt it)... or a wily journalist got it. Best Chris
    8. Well, if I understand correctly, you can still post in that section of the forum. Why not challenge the statement there? Maybe the person has posted can answer your question for you?
    9. Here is an article with some nice photos... http://www.corsenetinfos.fr/2012/03/30/croix-de-la-valeur-militaire-pour-57-légionnaires-du-2e-rep-de-calvi/ What is interesting is the roll of recipients at the bottom. Some people have names in Brackets next to their names. These are probably people who have been "rectified" ... ie. Cpl Nazarenko had been given the name Nivikov when he joined, had gone to Afghanistan as Nivikov, but by the time the award came through, he was rectified and has his original name of Nazarenko back.

    11. Possible ;-) But click on the photo to enlarge it... it really looks like a "4"
    12. This may just be a mark on the negative, but it DOES look like a "4"... or even an ace of spades?
    13. This Captein of unit XXX was photographed in Bad Ems... can anyone ID the medals (other than EK) ?
