    1. smart a$$...... but ironically right! How to turn a useless lump of metal into a practicle useful tool to society.....
    2. Hi, there are 2 Joostes... One was with Danie Theron at the beginning of the war, but left for Europe and was the Paris Hilton of his time, doing everything to become famous. (See here...) http://www.kaiserscross.com/40184/308401.html The other was on L. Bothas staff and stayed close to Botha ever after. Not really famous, but a solid man indeed. He was a scout and despatch rider for Botha (Along with Pretorius) and served Bothas Political party loyally until Bothas death. This I think is your man.
    3. Hey guys.... have you seen the skulls? http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/50726-conventional-forces-of-the-boer-republics-display-1874-to-1902/page__fromsearch__1
    4. J.P. Jooste was a close friend of H.S. Pretorius, so it ties in 100% with the DSO, DTD group. I hope to get of the rest of the stuff this week, you will find a copy of a letter from Jooste, describing their duties in the war in there
    5. The Pic was on ebay, stupidly I did not buy it, but money is a bit tight this month
    6. There is an essential post 1918 accessory pictured here, the wooden thing under the shell.... can anyone guess what it is?
    7. Fantastic new stuff Will, I suppose it is THE leading collection for this area of conflict?
    8. Interesting, have seen many of the SAP ones, but never a SWAP.
    9. A dumb a$$ with the power of authority. No idea what he was looking at, but the power to confiscate it as "national treasures"
    10. They are some pretty big awards....USB Stick for comparrison...
    11. To avoid the idiot at the airport confiscating my souveniers, this time I mailed the good stuff... and it actually arrived!!!!!
    12. I know, but they will do until I find some field grey :-) I justify buying them to myself with the thought that back at their home town they still wore them during the war. Best Chris
    13. Was glad to get these :-))) Amongst my favourite units are the Infantry of the 10 R.D. who fought a lot at Verdun.... Here the 37th Füsiliers...
    14. Nice, it must have been used like a credit card? You flash it and can put the stuff you buy on your account. Best Chris
    15. Sorry, was away for a week and still a bit jetlagged. Very nice group. Even if the docs and bars cannot be proved to be to the same guy, still worth keeping together "just in case" Best Chris
    16. Usually you just see the white Plakette withouth the screws or leather. Most literature says they were to be screwed onto the door of the stable. This seems to show that they were actually made to be worn like a "Horse Brass"
    17. I have only ever seen 3 of these, none with the original leather... so i was happy to get this, with original leather and legible stamp. EK2 just to compare size... :-))))))
