    1. Hi Joe, the wifes Grandfather was there when the pics were taken. On a couple he has some remarks written on the back. I will dig them out and post then for you. Best Chris
    2. Now... look at the 2nd pic.... the place called "to little paradise".... Can that have anything to do with the VD rates????
    3. and some pics of the 3rd U-Boot flotilla on the march at La Rochelle...
    4. couple more of what i assume to be the infirmary building at La Palice
    5. Here is where the testing would have been done.... the Infirmary at La Rochelle U-boot base....
    6. 2nd last pic is a sun room... when the U-Boot crews came back they used it to (I assume) get their vitamin D levels up...
    7. Indeed, that makes me think it is probably not Reichswehr. best Chris
    8. Winfield M Putnam is more interesting IMHO and I have an article in the works about the battle he died in...
    9. Have no idea why I think he died of disease... I think he was 337th MG Bn? 33"?"th ... last number is difficult to read....
    10. I forgot I had these... digging around for a missing EK2 document turned them up. I try and try and try to keep some kind of order in my collection.... and fail all the time.... In the back of my head I have the thought that Hjalmer B Johnson died of disease without leaving the states....
    11. The French KIA certificate for a Lt of the 2nd Zouaves killed in an attack on height 344 at Verdun, and his CdG doc, awarded for continuing the attack in spite of being wounded.
    12. Here is an original print, numbered 51/100 and signed by the artist Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen. Steinlen did a series on the war and he died in 1923. This one is from a soldier of the Bat d'af... I suppose it is a stereotype as he has his loot with him...
    13. Another one... once again a local initiative, issued at village level after the man had been awarded the cross.
    14. Here is a nice doc, A special print for the 128th Division. Chupin seems to have had a weakness for attacking MG positions... :speechless:
    15. To add to the theme... Here is a fantastic and scarce document for the Croix du Combattant. Usually it is just a card. Sgt Henri Mouchet fought at Verdun and had 3 citations on his Croix d Guerre
    16. Jup indeed.... many Boers had to get rid of their Mausers and pick up 303s... and scrounging ammo dropped by the Brits was very well documented... Here is a commercial British hunting dum dum, found on the colesburg battlefield...
