    1. No thoughts on this???? I found it super sexy, and not that expensive.
    2. Hi, yes, its looks to be. Here is another WOWer... Also not for an EK, but a commendation certificate.
    3. Thanks, there are a number of points there that reassure me. P.S. What are all those impressive looking books in the last photo P.P.S. I have never managed to open one of them ZIP things in my life !
    4. Naaahh... you dont want to see that... it'l just make you jealous ! ;-)
    5. Butzbach or B?tzbach, both spellings seem to go. Tom... can you post your pics here? I have spent about half an hour and still cannot open the fkng things :-(
    6. Can anyone make head or tail of what unit this could be..... A very hard to read stamp at the top looks to read "2. St.A.B?tzb???" which I think is 2. St.A.B?tzbach which is not far from here. Below is what looks to be L.Esc. (Leichte Escadron?) and then 2 bars which may be the "II" for class of service.
    7. Super, thanks !! There is a regt history caled "Sworn to Die" wheich i have not been able to find... do you have any idea where i could find a copy and is it any good? Thanks Chris
    8. No, often there are two dates, one when the award was made, and the other when the certificate was signed. occasionally there is no date, I guess an oversight. I have the same doc to the 183 I.R., it is dated 1916 and was the sister regt of this one in the 183 I.D. so I think at a rough guess this doc was distributed within the 183 I.D. (maybe one will turn up to another unit to proove that theory wrong)
    9. Ersatz reservist, best Chris
    10. Paul C has made a good start, scanning and PDFing rank lists. A guy in Germany has about 120 regimental histories on CD for about EUR5 a pop in PDF file. I have a history I have seen for sale for over EUR200 !!! I would much prefer a disc for 1:40th of the price. What do youguys think the future is? Sure, paper is nicer, but PDF is not to bad... and I would rather pay EUR5 than EUR75 for a history, especially if I am buying all as they come out. It is a way that really puts in the info in the hands of the masses..... at some stage I will photograph the histories I have and add to the list... imagine if everyone did... how the info would flow....
    11. Hi, Nix, nothing on him. Medaille Militaire citations seem to be numbered... I wonder if there is a way of researching them?
    12. Hi, This one is not for an EK, it is a recognition Anerkennungs urkunde from the regt commander. I have about 6-7 different ones, mainly they are given for brave work on patrols, but 2-3 of them are for being good fighters in specific battles or skirmishes, they are nice as specific event are usually mentioned.
    13. But mon Ami... this is france, not germany !!! No need for an index... its alphabetical ;-)
    14. Entry example...
    15. Found this on Holiday. a 1000 page Tableau d'honneur published in 1921. Listed are 4000-5000 guys who were awarded the Legion D#Honneur or medaille militaire as posthumous awards. all recorded awards up until the date of publication. I dont know if they are scarce or not, but for EUR35 there is no way i was going to leave it there....
    16. I love these docs. This one commending a gefreiter from the I.R. 112 for his bravery in the action when the positions near reims were hit by the Nivelle offensive. The EK is a size guide...
    17. Any ideas what this is?
    18. If an american collector was to buy one on the DNW auction, and store it at.... lets say... my house.... without it crossing the border.... would he still be breaking the law?
