    1. with the Bulgarian commenorative medal awarded in the 30's? I have a bunch of papers for agerman NCo who served in the Bavarian 6th and 16th divisions... never saw bulgaria in his life... and was able to apply for it against the issuing and buying fees. Did the bulgarian govt get into the medal selling business? Best Chris
    2. My experiance with MP's? they are ALL Whack MP's ... I got the whacks to prove it :-(
    3. Ok, what is a really nice, still light brown original Luger holster in almost perfect condition worth. Stamped 1916. thanks Chris
    4. I assume they are, but all the Turkish officers (or most of them) seem to have had them, maybe they were sold in turkey as well? I saw way more of them than the painted ones in the museum. I do remember a group or two with the painted ones. Just a question of whether they bought them during or after the war. by the way, one turkish seller insisted BB a co was a turkish firm, the others had no thoughts on the subject. I have no idea, just adding this to muddy the waters. Have any German groups popped up out of the woodwork with painted medals?
    5. In the groups in the turkish war museum there are mostly enamle stars. A few antique dealers I spoke to called them officers stars and the painted ones, other ranks stars.
    6. You guys are asses.... Since reading this thread I have been bitten by the bug and have 3 crosses in the mail on the way to me... thats all I need... another collecting side line :-(
    7. Sorry, bad shot... from he Konsulat in Boston, reporting after mobilisation.... and there is nothing pointin to any service after that, if he was interned near Ricks place, or sent back to Germany ....
    8. I assume they had to carry this with them at all times as he had it with him when he arrived in the states, you can see the navy cover added to it...
    9. Recently bought this seamans book, mili?rpass with cover and some assorted docs to this guy who was an electrician on passenger liners before WW1.... He had served in the 4 telegraph bataillon, then transfered to the naval reserve in 1907... they just slapped a new cover onthe milit?rpass.
    10. You have all seen this before I think, but I still enjoy posting it. From the wifes relative. great, great uncle 3 times removed, somewhere around the corner, etc. etc. He was a language teacher and got the flower war medals for monitering allied radio broadcasts in an attempt to see if there were any signs the allies would go to war if the Germans marched in.
    11. The trousers, fine cloth outside, uniform wool inside (not lined as such but the cloth seems to be rough on the oneside, smooth on the other
    12. I have had this one for about 8 years now. Nice quality, no maker mark... and I have never seen another like it so have not been able to say "good, bad, or just plain ugly!" All the best Chris
    13. My wifes grandfathers, bought after his awarded piece went down at Narvik, notice the small ring, made just for mounting.
    14. This was for a young SS Man, joined very late, was wounded and went into french captivity. There were 6-7 diaries, written on scraps of paper, toilet paper etc, etc. It was a really interesting little time capsule.
    15. I always liked this one. it was vet aquired, funny thing is the edges are not folded back, just sewn along the edges. Someone once said it is repaired, but I have seen imperial ones with the same sewing along the edge, not folded back.
    16. Their path must have crisscrossed our path when we did the walk from Fleury to the firebreak.
