I am going to go out on a limb and say I think the ones shown by Chip and Moi (Posts 65 + 67) are maybe wartime ones. They seem to be made of material of lesser quality than the ones we see on prewar photos. The one I posted belonged to a man who joined the 73rd Füsilier in late 1917. Any thoughts?

Yes indeed, but what i meant is, from the way it is made it looks very similar to the Leib Regt one, which makes me think the Leib regt is postwar.

I am guessing (for the French) that the CdG would have to accompany the LdH for the simple reason that the first step after the act of bravery is to cite the soldier for his bravery. That would mean the soldier had the CdG right off the bat. Without a citation for Bravery no LdH and the citation would have meant an automatic CdG ? All the best Chris -

I bought the dagger some time ago, but was lucky this weekend to get a superb 1914 made frog and a used officers not. The Frog was pretty difficult to find in the combat knife size.

Hi Jeff, thanks, the issue "Fuzzy Wuzzy" look. I had a good Jäger one in my hands ths weekend but had run out of money at the show. Luckily there are no Bavarian Jäger ones, that saves me a lot of money ;-)

An almost "field made" tag for the 79th.....

I had a lucky find today.... I assume he started out as an "other rank" as a regular dog tag and normal belt buckle is in the lot. Also a photo of him but without a name, then some group photos of the 3rd company.

OK, here is an interesting one, it belonged to the man who had the Private purchase Leib Regt ring and the 1907 Verein badge.... see the difference to the usual ones.....

Hi, this belonged to a 1914 Volunteer who became an NCO, then a Lt. d. Res. What kind of Schirmmütze is this? An NCO or an officer? Or both? Thanks Chris
