    1. Maybe he liked lookly at all the lightly clad summer tourists in front of the palace... and promotion would have taken him away from that.... or free cups of tea while on the beat... sometimes we look for difficult solutions when simple ones are there ;-)
    2. And this is a rare bird, I am only aware of one... this one... seems to be an excercise round...
    3. Does anyone have any rifle grenades with original color? Here is a selection....
    4. Other than what Hoss Showed, i cannot find anything more about the grenade online.
    5. Indded... Hoss nails it. I have only seen one (this one) although a german dealer has one. He lists it as a Blitzhandgranate or Nebelhandgranate.... according to his description used by assault troops. I dont know how accurate that is as this seems to be very early war, predating assault troops. best Chris
    6. I took the liberty of editing the titel, although it is my first one as well. My only one, 4th Company, 4th regiment issues in Port Said, I assume on the way home...
    7. Now why would I want to harm you and Irish Gunner ??
    8. In all fairness... if you guess this you deserve an E-Beer.... I have only ever seen 2, this one and one for sale on a german site.
    9. I must be honest, i have never seen one before... nice find!!!
    10. tut tut... I had you pegged for the generation where not every participant gets a prize? :-)
    11. And another one!!! http://www.ebay.de/itm/Etui-fur-Eisernes-Kreuz-ek-1-Orden-Ehrenzeichen-box-for-iron-cross-/200950683654?pt=Militaria&hash=item2ec9981806
    12. The EKs just for size... does anyone know what this is?
    13. Sometimes i find things i no longer knew I had... This small but "together" group turned up in a drawer this morning....
    14. It is in fact my "second suicide" :-( http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/49820-lt-chambeau/?hl=chambeau
    15. First Name Charles it seems. I cannot find the mail, but he commited suicide after the war.
    16. Fantastc! I assume a smaller show? I find if you have something good to sell, and you want cash not trade, the smaller nickle and dime dealers or "hobby dealers" at shows are a waste of time. They seldom have what you need in trade, and rarely can afford to put their hands in their pockets to pull out cash.
    17. This is developing into a very interesting thread indeed. Here is a thought... We Talk about Makers and Controllers.... but what about assemblers? Is it possible that there is a firm "XX" who did not make anything, but rather just assembeled? Either as a subcontractor, or free agent. If for example firm XX made Rims and cores, and assembeled then, and stamped them XX for control, we have a maker. If he could not assemble all me made, and sold parts to YY to be assembeled... and YY assembeled them and stamped them YY for control... then YY is indeed the "maker" as far as collector speak goes, as he assembeled and finished the cross ?
