    1. Here comes the 2nd last update..... it is a large one... the few pages of his last diary to follow...
    2. It is a wild guess... but I bet that a Vizefeldwebel in an active regt was probably active before the war, and a slight chance that he may have been a bit old after the war to start to study? (even 30 is slightly old) If he was a doctor, I would imagine a DRK or Volkspflege medal? Our guy on the right makes him a little "Beamtisch"... Maybe he was a Dr. of something other than medical doctor? All the above are just a few thoughts to get the ball rolling. Best Chris
    3. Hi, a few years ago I sold a Karl Friedrich Verdienstmedaille to a soldier named Stapf. If you were the buyer, can you please drop me a mail? Thanks Chris
    4. First off, the heavy hitter.... Harry's new article is up... and it is (as always) really solid stuff indeed. The Rhodesia Native Regiment in German East Africa, 1916. Africa in the Great War is not everyones cup of tea, but Harry is nailing it down sector by sector, battle by battle and as he advances "Harry's Africa" has become one of the most important resources available. "Comrades of War", a complete revamp of an old section with some important new stuff, including a very scarce award. The Machine gun Photo album has a few new Photos, as does the Minenwerfer section and the Verdun Battlefield Photo section.
    5. I would guess the same. Bishop etc would have been a loooooong grasp of the imagination.
    6. Wow... thats about as obscure as it gets!!
    7. I am not so sure, which of the hallmarks is the date? I would imagine that these braclets were made as blanks and shipped all over to jewellers who would then engrave them. Best Chris
    8. Hi, silly question, but that is unusual.... how do the BWM and VM have different ranks? I thought those two were always exactly the same? I cannot remember ever having seen different ranks on them. Best Chris
    9. About a year ago the amount of visitors ticked over to over 8 000 a month... now for the first time, 2 months running, it gets over 9 000 a month! Pretty cool eh!!!!!!
    10. I officially have a Blog! I dunno what you do with blogs, but it's free... so I want one! And I will find out what you can do with them!
    11. Fantastic! A spymaster. This was probably a wristband with a note "if found assasinated by SMERCH, please return to address on the bracelet" ;-)
    12. Here is some stuff made by German soldiers using large bits of splinter and British ammunition.... An inkwell and pen holder....
