    1. This was forced on me today in a part trade... I assume it is a baden NCO reservist, triple gallantry who served near the Bavarians?
    2. But little on the 2nd J?gers. They had a side role in it. best Chris
    3. Hi, That is possible, or it may have been that it is an old photo of his time in a regular J?ger Battailon? The guy whos Tschako I have served the last 2 years in the 31st Bavarian Infantry Regiment, but is still "Leutnant der reserve der J?ger" on his MVO4 awarded a year and a half after he left the J?ger. It would be interesting to find out more about his career path. A nice pic!
    4. Does anyone else have any EK award documents to Austrians? Thanks Chris
    5. Hi Claudio, thanks for the info! Do you know the source? Thanks Chris
    6. Hi, any idea if they become difficult when you request the papers of a certain soldier? The Germans are sometimes strict when it comes to Datenschutz. All the best Chris
    7. A very nice set.... does the guy you have it from know the origin? Best Chris
    8. check out the sides on one, not the rounded ends between lines...
    9. I was doing some epsonning at 600dpi, and tried three white ribbons... Ribbon one, a between 1871 and 1900 (approx) ribbon... two is unknown origin three was issued to a bavarian in 1920.
    10. Here are my bringbacks... thought I had lost them....
    11. with a bit of imagination I see "Heinrich Krausch" on it...
    12. I am beginning to cede this point to Chip.... Although the history of the Alpenkorps says they were authorised on Tchako, Helmets and soft head gear... the only one I have seen on a Tschako were in an Auction catalog... all other photos (period ones) I can only find on Soft headgear...
    13. I assume they later got them from a German source... and many associations wear them etc. etc... Anyone have a pic of a 100% good un? Here are some maybes...
    14. 20 000 of these were delivered from the Austrians to the Alpenkorps... here is a pic of an early one...
    15. Has anyone tried this? I would like to research a few officers and men, as well as taking a look at various unit diaries (as opposed to published histories)... has anyone done this and how easy/difficult is it? Thanks Chris
    16. I have both histories of the 2nd Bavarian J?ger batln. Also the history of the 1st Bavarian J?ger regt and a few books on the Alpenkorps. It is easy to find info on the Leib Regt attacking Fleury, ditto for the the 10th bavarian Infantry attacking towards the Kalte Erde... But between them were the 2nd bavarian J?ger Batln... I remember reading something about them on that day.... but cannot remember where... the Batln history has suprisingly little on this major event.... Any ideas ? Jens?
    17. Hi, they seem to have been kept long after it was clear that they would NOT be fit for active duty. I have passes where men had lost limbs and were still only invalided out a couple of years later. It seems that the seriously wounded passed from Hospitals to Ersatz battalions. then out of the service. The Ersatz battalion was a proccessing unit for them. Depending on how long their "Kur" period took, it could go on for years. I suppose the system back then had them looking after the guys better then modern times when they find themselves out on the street just months later.
    18. Hi, it is important to note the difference between the Reserve regiments and certain OTHER reserve regiments (like the RIR 242 for example). Other reserve regiments had trained soldiers/ex active soldiers... the "Innocent" regiments had guys with 5-6 weeks of service/training... hence the name. best Chris
    19. In budapest I saw a pile, but they were probably later made.
    20. That is a nice piece ... I have had a few brass framed ones, but none where you can see it so obviously. best Chris
    21. A huge coincidence has it that I was very kindly given one of these last weekend... Seeing your framed one now forces me to clear some wallspace for mine and to hang it up... It looks great!!! Have to keep them out of the sun of course....
    22. Hi, thanks, the reason I asked was the entries in the following book... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=1903...mp;#entry183023
