    1. Hi, Its very definately "Storck" and he was held until 1919... makes me think he was interned for "other" reasons... maybe a spy? He was imprisoned in South Africa, not in the camps on your links. Interesting, from your link von hadeln was one of the very few who were conditionally released... he was wounded, but if this was in DSWA or as a freikorps man I have no idea.
    2. Hi, His name was Adolphe Henri Joseph COLIN of the 2e Regiment de Ligne, born on the 20March 1884 in what looks to be "Riviemonde" (Pays Bas) Best Chris
    3. Hi Tom... do you know this? http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=9769
    4. Hi, His name was indeed Friedrich. There are a few papers in the group from what I assume is his Brother, PLM winner Heinrich von Hadeln. On the web I found a reference to "Von hadeln, Himmlers adjutant" PLM von hadeln died 1940, Friedrich in 48 or so.
    5. Hi, nope, a mounted abteilung. I dream of finding a Foto of him.....
    6. Hmmmm not the circle jerk of awe I was hoping for :-(
    7. I just managed to get his wound badge doc, issued in 1936. am not sure if this was for GSWA or Freikorps as some are awarded for Freikorps actions as well.
    8. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=10820 Here is a link to the docs. If be became a pilot in germany in December 1912, I assume he arrived in GSWA in 1913 or 14? Does that mean it unlikely he got the Denkm?nze? What is really nice is he was in the Southern part of GSWA, on the South African border, involved with the groups of rebels. I am over the moon at having got (most) of this group....
    9. And a few letters about his pilots ausweis earned in 1912.
    10. Released from captivity be made his way back to Germany to join the Freikorps...
    11. His EK1 doc. I was really suprised at the price it went for, it is not only an EK1 doc but to a "Freiherr von..." commander of a Aufkl?rungs unit on the South African border, deeply involved with the Boer Rebels and who actually crossed the border into South Africa with a group of rebels!!!
    12. Just recieved these..... The EK 2 doc is a rough one... but superb. You can see it has a place to cross out some words... this means it can be used to make awards to active members of the schutztruppe, or to the ex soldiers who were living in GSWA and were pulled in to serve.
    13. Hi, I am guessing that Storck was something other than a regular officer. He was still kept as a prisonner months after regular ones were released. Oblt. Von Hadeln however, from the other thread, was commander of the "Abteilung Hadeln" which seems to have been an Aufkl?rungs unit. Von hadeln probably retired as Hauptmann, but in 36 he was "Major a.D." According to a zerox of his wound badge doc. best Chris
    14. Hi, in 1914-15 before being captured he made it to Oblt. in 1919 after his release he was made hauptmann. He soon after retired as Major. best Chris
    15. Hi, his name was Karl Storck. Funny thing was... he was still in prison in 1919 when all the rest had long been released.
    16. Hopefully I can get all the docs posted by tomorow so we can see where/what and how etc. You are right, he was a POW, but after his release he shot back to germany and joined the grenschutzgruppe ost. before the war (1912 ish) he qualified as a pilot.
    17. Hi, EK1 and 2, one of the Grenschutz ost ones and his pilots stuff. Unfortunately I missed the patent and second Grenzshutzgruppe doc. I think the PLM assoc paper concerned a relative of his and not him. best Chris
    18. I am trying to figure out if a Leutnant, promoted to Oberl. in 1915 (I think) Von Hadeln is the same man called "Von Harlin" in a book written by a south African just after WW1. From what I can see, it must be the same guy. The region is the same, along the Southern border of Namibia in the area under the command of Vn Kleist, and involved with the South African rebels in 1914-15. Does anyone know if there is a Von harlin on the Schutztruppe roll ? If not I can assume its the same guy.
    19. Ohhhh... good golly.... what were they thinking... This goes with my thought that the French WW1 victory medal looks as if 2 hands are grabbing victories boobies from behind... This cannot be a coicidence, I bet the same guy did the design for both and spent many, many hours laughing about it...
