    1. I'm pretty excited on a couple of different fronts. Turkish Awards to Germans as a set with correct Turkish Urkunde & Case are pretty hard to find. But the forwarding letter from the Naval Attache, phenominal. It looks to be in gem/near mint quality and that's pretty darn hard to find as well. Not really collecting these, but just find it almost impossible to resist buying something that in my eyes is basicly one-of-a-kind.
    2. This odd photo caught my eye. It's on eBay right now. Interesting from several perspectives.... The stand for the rifle to be used like a mortar and the construction techniques of the trench. Look how small rhe branches bracing the walls are. You can also see the duckboards in the bottom pretty clearly. I cannot even imagine what the men of both sides endured here........
    3. PS: The Larger Pilot Badge dates from the 1920-35 era
    4. Hi Lee, Yes the crests are reversed but I believe this reflects the fact that the badges were made in Hungary, as opposed to Austria. They are all OK/authentic in my opinion. I saw these awhile back on the "another forum" and felt they were fine at that time.
    5. Gosh, nobody likes my new toy? No free transcription of the center chiffre? Good thing I didn't post the document eh?? ;>)
    6. If your serious, you'll have no choice but to start trying to gain some rudimentary understanding of written German. There is no substitute for the Nimmergutt Series. Niemann's book is also essential for the German Empire" section alone. Well worth it......... just for the one section. never mind all the "stuff" that came post 1935.
    7. Rick, you have scans of much of what has passed through here. Right now I have the big bar for W?rttemberg Golden Bravery Medal and another one for a Bavarian with Colonial Service.
    8. In process Chris, in Process! But having said that, there's never a substitute to handling the pieces themselves. You'll have to really get out to the shows and friends and look the pieces over themselves, feel them (and as my (Truly) Evil Twin does when no-one is looking............... Lick them!
    9. Looks like the First Class Cross of the Lippe-Detmold Orden des Ehrenkreuzes
    10. Well I had the 193 right. Copuld not remember late last night after a raucus dinner with some friends 1930- What? I've seen a few of the US/Sov badge for the World's fair. My understanding is the badge was of Soviet design, but US manufacture.
    11. Good Morning Brian! I have never stated that one cannot find a real piece on eBay, or any other auction house. My discussion was predicated upon the never-ending supply of "authentic", "vintage" and "jeweler copy" PLMs that are available on a weekly basis and routinely fetch between 1-5K USD. Every soldier in the entire Imperial German Army could/should have one hanging around his neck for this to be true........... Now, which piece on your website did you get off eBay? My understanding was these were all family pieces??
    12. Cher Christophe, mon bon ami, je suis juste dans le contact avec mon c?t? f?minin! (Un genre sensible de type) ;>)
    13. Christophe, mon cher ami, je suis une homme fran?ais! Mais non?
    14. Reverse as laid out on the case lid. All photographs courtesy of Niemann?, Hamburg
    15. Presented to a German Manufacturer in 1917. Winging it's way to me as we speak. Just couldn't resist.
