    1. Greetings, I recently picked up this ribbon bar with a lot of insignia at a local show. I was wondering how common this very small (16mm) size of ek2 spange is. Also, is the red and white middle ribbon from the Condor Legion in the Spanish Civil War? If so, this guy paid his dues! This was brought back by a Canadian Vet, who also had various insignia that I will post later. Any opinions on this bar, ribbon and ek2 spange? Thanks, Pat
    2. The reverse, not much to see here but a small mm on the ribbon.
    3. Hi, Has anybody seen this medal before? I believe it is a regimental service medal for the 22nd Bavarian Regiment, but I am not sure. It is shaped like an Iron Cross EK and is non-magnetic and one-piece. It has the same pebbled finish as the 1914 Mounted EK2 I just posted here. Could they be made by the same maker, and which maker would that be? Thanks for any advice, Pat
    4. Hi there, I have a mounted 1914 EK2 and Hindenburg cross here for discussion. It is one-piece (I believe) and non-magnetic, made of brass I think. It has a unique paint job with a pebbled finish, exactly like the Bavarian Regimental service medal in the shape of the Iron Cross that I will post in this forum. The ribbon and all threads do not glow under blacklight. I think it is a TR period WW1 EK2 but I'm not sure. Any ideas on this one? Thanks, Pat
    5. Sorry for accidentally typing in EK2 instead of EK1 on the topic title, oh well, my loss. But anybody who thought this was an EK2 spange post is welcome to leave opinions on this EK1 Spange.
    6. Hi again, The dealer I bought it off of (along with the other badges, but not much of the rest of my stuff) said when he bought them long ago they were all damaged and missing pins, so he added them himself. So he himself added the copper pins in his garage, as suggested earlier. I probably should have mentioned that earlier, but at least I remembered now. These badges were the very first items I bought (besides a belt buckle and a tinnie) and I had NO experience. After hearing all of your advice I feel I know the level of detail to look for, and hopefully I won't get taken again. Thanks again, Pat
    7. Hi, Yes , that would be fine to use it. I will get you bigger, higher resolution pics if you want, or you can use the large ones off the site. The dealer I bought it off of (along with the other badges, but not much of the rest of my stuff) said when he bought them long ago they were all damaged and missing pins, so he added them himself. I probably should have mentioned that earlier, but at least I remembered now. Thanks again, Pat
    8. Hi again, Does anybody know what this tinnie is for? I have never heard of Kreistreffen and my German is sub-par, so any info would help. Thanks, Pat
    9. How common is it to have paint on a tinnie? This is my only tinnie that is painted and I believe the translation is "Sun, Wind, Fire". Any body know what that event was? Any info on this Sonnenwendfeier tinnie would be appreciated. Thanks, Pat
    10. Hi there, I have always wondered if this tinnie has the Ferrari emblem on it. It sure looks like it, and if it is Ferrari, what is an approximate value of this tinnie? If it's not Ferrari, does anybody know what it is? Thanks, Pat
    11. Hi there, I have EK1 spange here for opinions, I bought this one a couple years ago when I was just starting to collect and was wondering if it original or not. It has been clipped for some reason, but it has pretty good details. Any opinions on its originality? Thanks Pat
    12. Greetings from BC, Here is my recently purchased EK1, with magnetic core and pin. The frame seems to be brass or some other metal than German silver, as it is yellower. I could be wrong, but I have seen other Iron Cross 1st Classes with the brass frame and magnetic. It is unmarked and I was wondering if anybody knows the maker of this cross? The hinge is like the edge of an old Canadian nickel or a 30-sided beer can, not round but rounded by rectangles (if that makes any sense). It has veining under the paint as well as being three-piece construction. Thanks, Pat
    13. Here is the back of the Ek2, also it is three-piece construction.
    14. Hi there, Here is my 2nd class Iron Cross with original ribbon (no glow). It is magnetic and has veining under the black paint. Overall, I'd say its in good shape. It is unmarked (as far as I can see) and I was wondering if anybody knew the maker of it. Thanks, Pat
    15. I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but all of the pins except the one CA I got from a different source (the only one that checks out so far) were replacements and not made with the badge. That is why they all have the same pins. Again, not sure if it matters but I'll put it out there. I have started scannnig the rest of my stuff (luckily, bought from different sources than these badges!) and I'll be posting them soon. THanks, Pat
    16. The story from the dealer was that all the pins were replaced because all the badges were damaged, so yes they all have the same pins, but they weren't original to the badges. The hinge is a separate piece, like most of the badges. Thanks, Pat
