Heer Heer Armbands
Avitas posted a topic in Germany: Third Reich: Wehrmacht Medals, Decorations & Awards
Hello gentlemen, I figured it would be a good idea to start a thread on Heer armbands, as I have a few to start it off with and hopefully get some opinions on. Please post your examples and let me know what you think of mine. Thanks again, Pat First up, we have a Deutches Wehrmacht armband in yellow and black. It is stamped and looks to be a good original to me. Any ideas on the armband? -
Thanks Gerd and Dan, I had my suspicions about the small insignia eagle as well, as I got it from Mr. Rip-off (anyone who has seen my other posts about the TR badges will know who I'm talking about), but I haven't seen any examples of the metal stickpin eagle with the rough back before. Does anyone else have one like this, real or copy, to compare? Or perhaps this is a fantasy piece. It's a shame about the buckle though, guess I can use it for air-soft battles now! Regardless, I assume the wreaths, cockades and cap eagles are fine then. I didn't really have any concern that they were bad, as I have seen other originals like these elsewhere and I am pretty sure they're good 'uns. Any opinions on the wreaths etc are welcome though. Here is another Heer Officer cap wreath, this one 1 piece and slightly beat up. Sure its good but any confirmation would be nice. Thanks gentlemen, Pat

Luftwaffe Belt Buckle
Avitas replied to Avitas's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Equipment
and the back of the Luftwaffe buckle, where you can see the non-rubbed detail. Any opinions on this piece? Thanks again, Pat -
Hello all, I just thought I'd put my LW Beltbuckle up for display and opinions. It is very worn down but I am pretty sure it is a good original that has been worn down or overpolished. The details from the back are very sharp and it is a very light, non-magnetic piece. Any ideas on maker and originality? Thanks alot, Pat

Luftwaffe Fake Luftwaffe tabs
Avitas replied to Paul R's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Equipment
Hello, Pretty sure these are bad, as they have what appears to be modern cardboard as the base, but I could be wrong. This is not my area of expertise but I would wager they're no good. Any ideas? Thanks, Pat -
My KVK collection
Avitas replied to Hauptmann's topic in Germany: Third Reich: State, Civil, NSDAP Awards & Decorations
Nice KVK collection Dan:beer: I have my modest collection posted as well and I love these simple awards, a good blue collar award if you will. I especially am fond of the early KVK2 with and without swords, just because I think it looks sharper with the ribbon. I hope to see some more KVKs up in the forum, perhaps some late-war examples? Any out there to show? I tend to stay away from the RK's with my novice eyes (and pocketbook!), but they are nice as replacements for display. Later, Pat -
DDR DDR mini sports badge in bronze and document
Avitas replied to Avitas's topic in Germany: Post 1945: Bundesrepublik & DDR
Yep, the ones with the closed pin on the back, third row up from bottom missing the gold. I think it is the same type as the one I posted, just a neat little badge with good details and a classic design. Cheers, Pat -

Thanks Dan, Nice set you have there, I like the small oval ones. To answer your question I'm using an Agfa 1212u scanner on my MAC (the cadillac of computers) and scanning at 300 dpi, then alter the size in Photoshop and save as a 72 dpi jpeg. A lot easier than a camera! Cheers, Pat -

and the back, the holes are from where the badge was pinned to the document. Any comments on this set? Pat -

Gestapo ID tags

I thought so, nice keychains now I guess I didn't pay much so I kind of assumed they were bad, but hey, you never know. I can see now what is meant by "pitting" in cast copies, as these are an excellent example of the characteristic. Pat -
Hello again, I checked out the repro site and the repro seemed to be in a lot better shape than mine. I wonder if someone intentionally made mine look tarnished, or maybe there is another explanation. This is a rare medal and it is hard to find info on it. I eagerly wait for Laurence's reply from the government for more information. I didn't pay much for it as I found it at a secondhand store, not an "antique store", so that's good. I sure hope there isn't a rash of Canadian fakes going to appear because of sites like the one Laurence posted. They would have to be marked as repros in order to be legit, I believe. I hope my fears are just paranoia, but maybe mine is good, but chances are slim, using the comparison of the details as a marker. Any more ideas on this? Thanks, Pat
