    1. Hi DutchBoy, Are you from dutch origin or .......??? Nice collection, the text on the medals is for us reasonably readable, hence South-Africans speak a sort of dutch dialect.... Keep going on!!! There are indeed quite few south-african collections Thanks for sharing your collection with us Kind Regards, Jacky
    2. Hummm It's a blue fouragere... Just to denote that the unit he commanded or where he served had cited several times for their bravery. Just like the french did. But from what medal are the colours????
    3. uh uh.... where is the lion Can't see him anywhere....
    4. oooh Well, I did consider them a little older due to the french unilingual text... But on the otherside... Thought that they had been remounted and reribbonned that did look newer!!! I thought that medals HAVE to be bi-lingual nowadays???
    5. Wow... Even the gold medal get diamonds He must have been very proud of it!!!
    6. Igor.... What a ..... WONDERFULL pictures!!! but... What is this one about??? Kind regards, Jacky p.s Keep going on with those pictures..... Award-Certificates are fine... But pictures of the awardees are best

So if one is a sir, even if his name is Mick Jagger They say Sir.... So I say... Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Kt (to denote that he's Knight Bachelor) Greetzz Jacky
    10. Ah the good old stories of the famous sherlock But you know... SIR arthur Conan Doyle..... is his right name And yes he did say more in his books, The all famous phrase is; Dr. Watson... I presume Talking about Dr. Watson.... Weren't he invalided out of army?? What medals would he have had if he were real???? Maybe nice to try and guess
    11. Maybe a bit too late... But how much did this group cost????? Thanks in advance Are there anymore GC's or GM's in any member's collection awaiting to be posted here?? Kind regards, Jacky
    12. Whow... What a fab group But why did he split the russian awards?? I see a order of st vladimir 4th in the bar and the 3rd class besides it... His miniature bar had already been upgraded... But next to the Chevalier d'Legion d'Honneur is a order of St Anne.... Besides the St Anne and St Vladimir a Knight of the order of the Star of romania. Maybe anyone knows why he splitted both russian awards??? I thought the rules demanded that medals of the same country should be put besides each other in the order of that land.... Would like to hear, Kind regards, Jacky
    13. Kevin, Not to mention the medal is named in English European War.... So clearly an English medal
    14. Please note the difference in ribbons The old ribbons would have been darker, almost purple. Which were the first type awards, These are pink, so they are more modern. The MBE is with a civilian ribbon, whereas the BEM is with the military ribbon. Which can be seen by the grey middle stripe, this lacks on the civilian ribbons Just a little bit more information
    15. Hi Paul, You made a little mistake, the MBE is a breast badge, the only medal is the BEM, the same letters but just the otherway Here you have some pictures of both of them the bow-mounted MBE And the BEM
    16. It is not necessarily that it comes from an other producer, one should remember that the medal all above was originally intended for the order of the crown, so a different stamp and mall But yes, the differences are clearly to be seen, I like both of them.... boys
