So in with the medals, out with the money Again left to right; Knight Leopold II with palm L for WW2. Silver palm Order of the crown Civil decoration 5th class for WW2 Medal of the fighter for WW2 Commemorative medal WW2 with crossed swords Medal of the P.O.W Medal for armed resistance WW2 Missing on the picture; Croix d'Guerre WW2 with Palm
    2. Little, incomplete, group with most medals, however his "IJser"-Cross and other commemorative medals have been sold separately.... I grabbed this opportunity before he would sell them off.... Still some nice examples, but yet not a complete group. Saw a picture of this man, with a chest almost like a christmas-three.... Asked for a price to his picture and his officers of Leopold II and order of the crown... He wanted way too much for them... asked for a copy of it, denied.... Officers and picture have been sold From left to right; Knight Order of the Crown with swords Knight Leopold II with Palm Croix d'Guerre "WW1" with 1 bronze lion and 1 bronze palm Croix d'Guerre "WW1" with bronze palm Militairy decoration for bravery with palm Special decoration for ??? * Hendrik can tell more about this one... If he pleases to do so.... * Decoration for Labor 1st Class Commemorative medal for the centenary of Belgium.
    3. P.s Picture of the Resistance Commemorative Cross. Not of my grandfather....
    4. Nice info for all of this guys. My grandfather had been mobilised in february of 1940... But never, never, never received the "Oorlogsherrinneringskruis" with Clasp "Nederland Mei 1940" (War Memorial Cross with clasp netherlands, may 1940.) When I discovered this, I contacted the RIOP and a veterans organisation, applied for the Mobilisation WarCross. He deserved it certainly, but never received one. I suppose this was due to the fact that one had to apply himself for it?? It's strange to see that our main decorations for WorldWar II, the Mobilisation WarCross and the ResistanceCommemorative Cross, were decorated to those who applied for it or were put forward by their family or aquintances. Maybe could Erik shed a light on this topic? P.s Still waiting for an answer of the MoD, section decorations. My Grandfather has died already 20 years ago, but granny died a few months ago. Sadly that I will never be able to show her what her husband should have received!!! But I will keep them in memorial of my grandfather.

    18. Oh my... he must have had an angel on his shoulder ...... To live long enough to keep on going collecting palms and lions, also palms on his National orders.... This man must have been impressive in full dress with all his medals!!! How did it end for him at last?? A great carreer or back to normal at last?? A captain must have been someone of certain class, not the rich but also not poor.... I know it's quite late, but I would like to know something.... I'm wondering what the georgian Swords were like....... Does anyone have a picture of that mysterious decoration?? Thanks in advance
    19. Lo and behold..... The grand-officer of Leopold II which I posted yesterday is said to have cost only 25 euros.... I'm wondering which junk-shop sold this medal... I will go there Let's search for a grandcross of any order That must have been heaven
