    1. Thanks for the background story Karel and the pics, how long have you had that gorgeous m18 cutout then that's the talk of the collecting community? Eric
    2. Chip Unfortunately no after a quick look, I cannot even find an interior image of the m87 on the net so I'am left to speculate. The pack pictured is dated '89 judging by the thread and stitch the inside of the flap more familiar on the m95 may have been added later to replace the separate bag and restamped 1898. I doubt the early pre'95 packs had for example the accessible ammo pockets. This bag may have just looped through the tent bag pack tabs, don't know.
    3. Chip Somers vol 3 pg 887. actually I think its the best book of the three. Eric
    4. Hoss to the rescue: The B-stoff grenade was made of 2 sheet steel halves put together around a porcelain inner body. A paper filling in between damped the shocks during transport. This smoke grenade was filled with a toxic fluid which reacted with air and produced a thick white cloud. The fuze was the brass type as used on the 1913 kugelgrenade which ignited a black powder charge that shattered the body. Diameter 100mm.
    5. Recent pick According to refs. was initially part of the m1887 tornister held in place with a rod going through the rear loops. The introduction of the m95 saw them issued to cycle troops circa 1899. This example includes the small five rear loops and has the flap 'tacked' to stop the contents presumably becoming lost, not an earth shattering find but cool, never owned one before. Eric
    6. Thanks Gents only the price of these puppies hurts I like em but that's it for me. Regards Eric

    11. Probably the most rare piece in my collection a field made helm cover. Regards Eric
    12. Maybe not rare but certainly scarce a m87 Kochgeschirr by Berg date '07 with detachable handle the other example has a steel fryer lid unfortunately missing the separate handle. Together with probably still my favourite a '15 dated kit by Bing, note the zinc interior and the bale stop. I've been trying to find out what date the German Army first started using the spork and would appreciate any help or posted information. Eric
