    1. Many thanks for that guys, I do have a book with Finish awards so I'll have a look there. Found this one amongst an ebay shop just marked as a ww2 German soldier and nice and cheap so welll pleased.
    2. Another request for identification I'm afraid. This photo is a recent purchase from EBAY and I'm struggling to ID the award worn under the black wound badge. I'm also guessing on his arm of service, all I'm certain of is he's not infantry. Any ideas please.
    3. Thanks again for your speedy reply. The original is in that typically small ( and infuriating ) format of photos of this period. I ve looked under a glass at the pockets and the only one I can make out to any degree is the right hand man with the 'x' marked under him. His pockets appear to be unpleated but again its a small image so I can't say for certain. One things for sure though and that is they have just come from the rifle range. Wet knees and dirty boots! I remember it well!!!!!!!
    4. Thanks for the speedy reply. Am I right in assuming then that the lobster bibs are covering the Eagle insignia and that these soldiers would be from the early third Reich period?
    5. A recent EBAY purchase, and from the lack of breast eagle insignia I guess the troops are from the Weimar era. However I cannot find any reference to the tunic covers which the troops appear to be wearing. Any help would be most appreciated.
    6. One more, this time a motorcycle competition with HJ members in attendance.
    7. Another. Early HJ but the original photo was printed the wrong way round.
    8. Superb images, Thank you. Keep them coming.
    9. The following goup of photos came to me recently with the information that they were taken by a World War 2 Reporter who was working with the Royal Navy. Unfortunately no other details about the reporter are known but each photo has had brief details written in black ink to the reverse. They are all of Royal Navy interest and I hope they may be of interest as i believe that they are all unpublished. The photos are as follows:- 1. Ark Royal 2. Graff Spee 3. Foxhound refueling from Royal Sovereign 4. Defender 5. Bartholemew Collimio being shelled 6. Broadside from Royal Sovereign 7. Eagle 8. Sydney-Australia, cruiser going into Alex after sinking Italian cruiser.
    10. Thanks for that Ed. It came to me in a bunch of mixed photos which im slowly working through. Thought it may be of interest to this topic thread.
    11. I have recently acquired this photograph of a Victoria Cross presentation to, I believe an Indian recepient. The rear of the photograph has an official ink stamp marked 'Services Public Relation Directorate India', and handwritten in black ink, 'The Red Fort Delhi, October 24th 1944, The VC presentation parade' Im in the process of researching the recipient and identifying his other awards. Hope this is of interest to topic members.
    12. Many thanks for the information. I ll work on a better photo but my girlfriend knows my computer skills and says please dont hold your breath!!!!!!!!
    13. Thanks for that, its an avenue of research i hadnt considered. I ll check my reference books. The only thing is their insignia appears to be fairly standard German.
