    1. Thank you for your kind words. Here is another from my wedding portrait collection. I cannot see clearly what his trade insignia is because the surface texture of the photo makes it difficult to identify. Any ideas? cheers, Larry
    2. Maschinist plus Rohrmeister (Torpedo Tube Captain) specialty patch. Cheers, Larry
    3. Here is another portrait that is now in my collection. Top is Stab (Staff) patch Underneath is Kraftfahrlaufbahn (Driver/Motor Transport) patch. Under that is Gefreiter rank insignia. Cheers, Larry
    4. Thank you. Very nice photo Martin. Here is a Maschinistmaat portrait. Cheers, Larry
    5. Feuerwerkmaat (Ordnance) wearing metal insignia. Cheers, Larry
    6. Hi, Geschutzfuhrer is still my best guess. If you removed the out-of focus haze around the symbol it would look very similar to the Geschutzfuhrer symbol I have posted. Cheers, Larry
    7. Well, I certainly got the first guess wrong. could the arrowed insignia be Geschutzfuhrer? Insignia is blurred and distorted so it is hard to tell. Cheers, Larry
    8. Nice photo. The young man certainly had a lot of specialist trade badges. Could the top badge be for a Spielmann? (Band Leader/Drum/Fife). I have seen more than one variation of this badge. Here are two more types of Spielmann badges. The badge at left is from my personal collection. Cheers, Larry
    9. Very nice photos, especially the Torpedo Mechanic photo. Thanks for posting. Cheers, Larry
    10. Very nice photos. Twin brothers with same rank, MS badges and Funker badges. Were brothers allowed to serve on the same ship in the Kriegsmarine? Here is another from my collection. MS badge and wearing a Bootsmann trade badge. Cheers, Larry
    11. Thanks very much for the nice words. Writing on the back of the photo says: Ernst 1942. Here is another form the series. There is the date of 1943 on the back. He wears the EK2 ribbon and has been promoted to Obergefreiter. No trade specialty badge this time. Cheers, Larry
    12. Nice colourisations Alex. Here is one I did from my portrait collection. Cheers, Larry
    13. From a photo lot to the same sailor. Unterwasserhorcher (Hydrophone Operator) patch in wear. Cheers, Larry
    14. Very nice photo. Your great description of his insignia has answered the question I asked in post #35 Here is Bootsmann insignia in wear. Cheers, Larry
    15. Thank you. Very nice "catches", indeed! Here is a closer view showing cap tally and rank insignia details. Cheers, Larry
    16. Nice photo! Here is Matrosenstabsgefreiter (6 years service) insignia. Cheers, Larry
    17. Another coincidence. I have a small photo lot of the Artillerie-Mechaniker in your wedding portrait. He can be seen in the Prinz Eugen photo I posted earlier. See photo and another wedding portrait of the same couple. Cheers, Larry
    18. U-Boat crewman wearing Bootsmann and Motorenlehrgang patches. Cheers, Larry
    19. Outstanding photos once again guys! Here is a Maschinist/Engine Room patch in wear photo. Cheers, Larry
    20. Wonderful photos. Thanks to all contributors! Metal insignia for Funkmaat. Cheers, Larry
    21. Maschinist and Elektrotechnischer Lehrgang III (Electrical Technician Grade III). Cheers, Larry
    22. Hi Martin, My photo is the same sepia colour as yours. I desaturated the colour when I scanned it. It is printed on an Agfa postcard and is discoloured around the edges. As you know copies were made and sent to comrades, family etc. Probably what happened here. Another portrait in my collection: An Obergefreiter wearing a Coastal Artillery badge. I am not an expert on trade and qualification insignia so is it unusual to see a Unterpersonal der Stabe (Staff NCO) and a Bootsmann (Boatswain) patch worn with a CA badge? Also the extra chevron sewn under his Obergefreiter stripes is to show he is awaiting a promotion? Cheers, Larry
