    1. Robin or 219PG, He looks like he has had an eventfull career, grenades are not your everyday occurance, would he have been decorated for that, if not he should have been. As ex police I ask you why was he not selected for promotion or is this not like the military? Is this a personal choice within the police as I can't imagine he would not have progressed otherwise? Regardless its a very long time at the front line and I hope he gets to travel! Regards Jock:)
    2. I have been staring at it and sqinting 'like a Japanese sniper', is the party badge a party badge as the white portion looks larger than those I have, if it were not might it explain the odd position of his awards? Jock:)
    3. Do you know I didn't even think about that. Perhaps as a veteran that possibly left bits of himself on a foriegn field he was granted some liciense with uniform code? He may also have been a bit resentful of having to leave his former combat unit and only did the minimum to comply with the 'remfs', pure speculation on my part? Are you sure there is a stripe could that just be my crap photography or where the trouser is finished? Jock:)
    4. Paul, Sadly we will never know but I am sure he would have had a lot of transferable skills for instruction? Anything from recrute training to defense construction, map reading etc, I suppose. The lads around him look young and is that a bed they appear to be standing around? Maybe he was giving them a hard time and had them move their bed outside as a punishment, that happened to my entire room in basic training, we were 'grotty fookers' so the staff said so we had to move the entire room onto the Regimental parade Square, I look back and laugh but it was a pain at the time! Jock:)
    5. B.H.H, Yes it is more of a shield shape, quite odd, not a tinnie I would have thought, perhaps something foriegn, who knows? Thanks Jock:)
    6. Thanks Guys, Here is a reshow, I have had a pop with the usb microscope, bit better? Thats the best I can manage sorry. Jock:)
    7. Guys, These are from today and I am struggling with the badges, Inf sturm probably a woulnd badge in silver, what are the 2 below them? Any ideas? also his left arm looks a bit limp is it a prosthetic perhaps? Cheers Jock:)
    8. Guys, To close the loop: http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=679842 The only surviving doc to link the name.
    9. Uwe, Thankyou very much for that clarification. Shame it is a single doc, there is nothing else to research about it. Thanks again. Jock:)
    10. Snapped these pics last year as we withdrew: http://www.military-awards.eu/forum/showthread.php?16838-Nebelwerfer-Gas-troops-Memorial-inside-HEERS-Gas-Schutz-Schule-Celle Jock:)
    11. I am just a dabbeler myself. I use lexicon and I know some info on there is faulty. for the Regt history on there it has 2nd and 3rd Bns going by plane into Demjansk transfered or OPCon 12 Div? My German should be a lot better by now! Seems very elaborate for a fake but nothing would surprise me! The old German is hard enough but signatures are even harder IMO. I know Hucks dabbles a lot in this area and was hoping he could cast an eye over it. Thanks again. Jock:)
    12. Rick?, Yes 12 Div, that would mean the unit and stamps matched the time period according to Lexicon? I will have a look for this Rohricht and see what he was up to. Thanks Jock:)
    13. Hucks, What do you think of this one, I have searched you database but have not found a comparison. What I have found online does not compare well? Unit wise it all matches up. Cheers Jock:)
    14. Guys, This tickeled me. I have another somewhere. I like how the Germans practicle approach to things spawned many of these recyled items. Wonder if it had a 1000 year garuntee! Jock
    15. last 5. To do this properly I will have to strip the folders down and scan them, I think that is a better option. Jock:)
    16. the technical forms are quite interesting, not too dissimilar to what was being used until recently, I suppose now it is all on computer with no manual firing as a back up?
    17. Guys, A spot of luck today, I have obtained 3 folders pertaining to the above stated course which was run at the Nebeltruppenhule Celle in Oct 1942. It appears to be an asspirant officers entire course work covering NBC, Tactics, Politics, Military Dicipline,Logistics, etc. The most interesting part for me is that they appear to have conducted live fire exercises at Bergen and Munster ranges, most of the OPs listed are in the modern impact area but it made me smile that this guy fired from Hengstberg OP and it is still used today. It is a bloody miserable point in winter and it must have been more so without 'Goretex'. Also he has kept examples of some of the technical Artillery proformas for survey, shooting, met etc. There is a lot to go through bet I will post up a cross section of the course. If anyone requires scans or more detail of a specific sections let me know. Cheers Jock:)
    18. Guys, This is a bit morbid but it has the right look to be period. It has no marking but the zip fastener on the surviving short zip is 'riri'. Construction is blue grey sailcloth which has been rubberized on the inside. Heavy duty leather handles that are stitched and riveted. It has had a bit of use and the wife is not that keen on it being in the house. Any thoughts from medically focused folk? Cheers Jock:)
    19. Gone a bit off track here. I wonder what Robin would make of this one. It has the Fanfare Banner attachments but still no maker? Cheers Jock:)
    20. Got It Mate! I had it on the smaller thumbs which was not doing it for me on this screen, have changed to larger icons. I think so with regards to the docs and I think he sold the book seperatley. Its from a local 'pikey' so I have no chance of finding it. I have tried to explain the importance of keeping 'it' all together but at the end of the day I am happy to catch anything original these days. Jock:)
    21. I like the Wagner, seem like a finer design and strike with the detail on the leaves and the less chunky cogwheel. I will keep my eyes peeled! Cheers Jock:)
    22. It was the Manteuffel that I had doubts about. I searched the web and so far nothing was similar, he seems to stress the 't' in other examples, I guess he may have been tired by that stage of the war though. I am struggling with the format here, it is not as easy to navigate as some of the other forums. I will have a search through the database. Thanks for your thoughts. Jock:)
