    1. Chris, K.H.Qu. = Korps-Hauptquartier. He was the corps headquarter's commandant. Paul Klinger of the 7. Chevaulegers-Regiment Prinz Alfons was formerly the personal adjutant of Prince Alfons of Bavaria. Leutnant: 8.3.06 Oberleutnant: 25.8.13 Rittmeister: 19.5.16 Regards Glenn
    2. Hi Stijn, the only Schutztruppe Wei? serving at this time was Oberleutnant Erich Wei? of the Schutztruppe for German Southwest Africa. Wei? was a former officer of Infanterie-Regiment von Boyen (5. Ostrpreu?isches) Nr. 41 who entered the Schutztruppe on 3 February 1906. He left the Schutztruppe with effect 29 September 1919 and re-entered Prussian service with effect the following day. Sekonde-Lieutenant/Leutnant: 13.3.97 Hh Oberleutnant: 18.5.07 F7f Hauptmann: 27.1.13 W His sole decoration listed in May 1914 is a Prussian Crown Order 4th Class with Swords. Retired as a Major. Regards Glenn
    3. And his awards as shown in the 6 May 1914 Prussian Army List. Regards Glenn
    4. Hi Stijn, Part two. He retired as a Major and was still alive in 1935. Regards Glenn
    5. Hi Stijn, Walther von Wiese und Kaiserswaldau Regards Glenn
    6. Chris, Major Viktor Langemak. Promoted to Major on 27.1.15, he died following an operation in Aachen. The letter is signed by General der Infanterie Erich T?lff von Tschepe und Weidenbach. Regards Glenn
    7. Dave, 1. Both I./ & II./I.R. 162 wore the cockade of the Free and Hanseatic City of L?beck. The 81st Infanterie-Brigade of which I.R. 162 was a component recruited both in L?beck and the Duchy of Lauenburg, which although a part of Schleswig-Holstein was a part of Prussia and this is presumably where III. drew its recruits. 2. Apart from its III. Bataillon being stationed in Holzminden, I.R. 164 did not have any Brunswick connection. It was a Prussian regiment. 3. 7. Th?ringisches Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 96: I./96 = Prussian II./96 = Reu? III./96 = Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt The I. Bataillon guys were probably recruited from the Erfurt area of the corps district. 4. Th?ringisches Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 153: Both the I. & II. were Altenburg and the III. was Prussian. The III. Bataillon guys would have been recruited generally from Landwehrbezirk Wei?enfels which was part of Prussia. Regards Glenn
    8. Dave, These are both the same guy. I think a double entry in the Ehrenrangliste. Regards Glenn
    9. Dave, tricky Hans Otto von Wedel, in 1914 an Oberstleutnant (date of rank 1.10.13 Pp) and chief of staff of Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 150. On mobilization, he took command of Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 18. His last wartime command was 78. Reserve-Infanterie-Brigade. Hermann von Wedel, in 1914 an Oberstleutnant (date of rank 1.10.13 R4r) and commandant of the Kadettenhaus in K?slin. He took command of Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 209 on its formation in October 1914. His last wartime command was 82. Reserve-Infanterie-Brigade. Hasso von Wedel, in 1914 an Oberstleutnant (date of rank 22.3.14 Cc) and commandant of the Unteroffizierschule in Wei?enfels. His last wartime command was Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 59. He wore the uniform of Garde-Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 3 (not to be confused with regular Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 3). I will have to look at the others later. Regards Glenn
    10. Ted reminded me of this thread. Vizefeldwebel der Reserve Reisse of Landwehrbezirk Hanau was commissioned into 1. Kurhessisches Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 81 as a Leutnant der Reserve with a Patent of 16.10.06. He transfered the following year on 19.12.07 into the Hanau based Infanterie-Regiment Hessen-Homburg Nr. 166. by 1909 he was on the rolls of Landwehrbezirk Aachen and is shown in 1911 as a salesman living at Crefelderstra?e 31 in Aachen. He remained on reserve status with this regiment at least until mobilization in 1914. Herr Reisse's promotion to Oberleutnant der Reserve came on the 24.12.14 where he was shown serving in Brigade Ersatz-Bataillon Nr. 32. The only other Reisse serving in commissioned status at this time was Hauptmann der Landwehr a.D. (Frankfurt) Reisse in Festungs-Kompanie 4 who had been promoted to that rank on 21.11.14. Both survived the war. Regards Glenn
    11. Chris, "Die W?rttemberger im Weltkriege" shows an order of battle of 7. Landwehr-Division in January 1917 with R.I.R. 122 present. The "Ehrenbuch des Gefallenen Stuttgarts 1914-1918" says that R.I.R. 122 initially served in the Prussian 183. Infanterie-Brigade, 183. Infanterie-Division respectively in the Champagne and Somme where it suffered heavily and for a short time with 54. Reserve-Division at Verdun. Regards Glenn
    12. Chris, my best guess for R.I.R. 72 - Graf Schack: Oberstleutnant Erich Graf Schack von Wittenau. Regards Glenn
    13. Chris, Oberst Ernst v. Heynitz, last commander of 34. Landwehr-Infanterie-Brigade and Generalmajor a.D. Regards Glenn
    14. I think we are talking about the marksmanship (Schie?auszeichnungen) stripes intoroduced in December 1920 which were worn on the left cuff. Initially of green wool, they were replaced in 1928 by silver braid. Regards Glenn
    15. Chris, that is the then Oberst Wilhelm Matthia?, later Generalmajor and commander of 207. Infanterie-Division. Oberstleutnant on the staff of I.R. 155 in 1914, Regards Glenn.
    16. Chris, I read that last signature as Matthia?. I am work now so will check when I get home. Regards Glenn
    17. Hi Chris, R.I.R. 10: Oberstleutnant Sch?nwasser. I will see if I can track down a first name. Regards Glenn

    19. Chris, the only L?ttgen I have come across out of thousands of Prussian reserve and Landwehr officers I have indexed so far (up to May 1916) is one Leutnant der Landwehr Infanterie 2. Aufgeb. L?ttgen of the recruit depot of the reinforced 4. Ersatz-Division commissioned on 30 April 1916. A landwehr officer probably at least 30 at the time and therefore most likely not your man. I continue to look for him. Regards Glenn
    20. Tony, I would suggest getting a copy of Martin Middlebrook's "The Berlin Raids", which details all the raids on Berlin and lists the lost crews. I have a copy but it is at home in the UK Regards Glenn
    21. He had already retired when he received the charakter or brevet rank of Major. Bezirksoffiziere were uniformed retired officers who conducted the business of recruiting, mustering and mobilization etc within a Bezirkskommando. Major Gaupp actually received a Patent as a Major on 22.3.15 as the commanding officer of Landsturm-Bataillon I Bochum. Regards Glenn
