    5. Ya heard that old saying, it's a small world??? You have no idea how many ex-wives, ex-girlfriends, husbands of wives and all those green eyed blond haired kids in their 30s and 40s around the world looking for me, so a photo is not possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    6. Man!!!! that was forty three years ago when I returned......hell, I've divorced so many times, I'm lucky to have anything left!!!! I do have, somewhere, a Zippo that came out commemorating the 50th Anniversary of D-Day. I'd would trade that say for a MG unit marked bayonet.
    7. No W.E Cates Jr listed on the Wall...so, he came home.
    8. Yes there is...go to www.military.com, sign up and go to the unit membership pages to that unit and ask all those members if anyone knows today or remembers that name. You might very well get a response. If you find out he was West Point, that makes it very easy, if OCS or ROTC, a bit harder.
    9. Those of us that left Nam walking, we left with two things, a Zippo lighter and a Seiko watch and those of us that were career soldiers, we wore a set of Sang Woo double knit khakis and when we got back stateside, we overdosed on cheese and chocolate. My zippo had inscribed, "When I die bury me face down, so the whole world can kiss my a............................
    10. Hey Eric...ole pal!!!! Hope you don't mind but I copied photo #2 and have it sitting next to the matching Luger. It will pacify for a while.
    11. You're quite welcome, Coastie. Sharing information, experience and knowledge is what makes a place like here what it is. I don't hang around a place that doesn't. As I said, I'm no expert and there are many who know so much more than me but I'll share what I do know. Also, some of what I say is an opinion and ya know what they say about opinions and everybody having one................. Cheers Ed

    14. Hey Jock, I ask because the name sounds familiar and when I got to the Gold Wound document, it then became even more familiar. I moved an old vet out of house apartment and moved him to Bingen back in 77/78 and when he was asked about the war, boy did he go off. Very angry dude, was in a panzer Regt and wounded seven times. He was pretty well torn up. His wife was the ex-wife of my landlord who left her for a younger thing, who eventually left him penniless. Move the guy to his newly built house high overlooking the Rhine above Bingen. He was a tyrant, I had lived above him for eight months prior. Cheers...............
    15. Jock....did you acquire these from his widow that lived in or around Bingen?
    16. I visited that museum some years ago, I was really impressed. One of the top five museums I have visited. Went through the Resistance Museum also and the palace of course. Went to Corry Ten Boom's shop. Lot's of great History in Copenhagen. If I remember correctly, I didn't see any security back in the late 60s, early 70s. Loved the fact it was located in an old Cavalry barrack and how a full horse drawn artillery piece dominated the second floor. I do hope the award is found. It will show up sooner or later somewhere.
    17. In between changing my Depends, I'm still in Kindergarten on some facts. Thanks......... Ed
