    1. Hello Gents My new arrival which I exchanged for a TR medal. I noticed that on other LuH I have seen some have red or black feet and red or black heads on the eagle. As you can see mine has red feet and black heed! I like the Lubeck shield in the centre of the LuH. Just need a mini now!!!! Thanks Rob
    2. Hello Gents I saw this and it looked convincing to me at first. However, I dont like it! After I cross referenced with other pictures of this cross I noticed that the "Bremen key" is not aligned correctly? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...bayphotohosting At the business end of the key the examples I have seen ALL fit exactly between the 9 and 12 arm (10 oclock to 11 oclock) however this item does not and I havent seen one like this before. The key is placed about 11 oclock and 12 oclock on this ebay item. The cross pictured below is a good one to compare with. Am I way off and actually this is a 'good' item? Your opinions are warmly welcomed. Rob
    3. Doesnt the '*' mean Austrian maker? Something I learned from here... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=11661&st=20
    4. Thanks Gents I am just gonna leave it as it is and thanks to Rick I now know which medalbar would match the chain. Big thumbs to you Rick
    5. Cheers Gents....when I jump in and get one I will post it here Rob
    6. Hello all and a Happy New Year!! I acquired this chain yesterday. I like very much and have been looking for a mini BMVO4x for a while. I believe all the parts are good but was a bit puzzled by the combo: EK/BMVO4x/HonorC/BLD2. The BLD2 bit puzzles me???? Have been told it would of been for a junior officer but this would usually have BLD1 as these were given to officers and the BLD2 to enlisted men? When I inspect the BLD, inparticular the jump ring, there is no sign whatsover of it been tampered with. Whilst inspecting the piece I noticed that there is what seems to be a vacant jump ring attached to the chain which would suggest that there should be another mini on there. Any help on a possible ID of the missing mini (if thats possible????) would be appreciated. As I said earlier I really do like this chain and in a way its made it even more interesting that there is a bit of a puzzle that came with it. As always your comments and views are totally appreciated. Hope 2008 brings you nicer items to your collections Rob
    7. Thanks Alex....not buying but browsing and learning a bit on these Stars. Have seen many variations on this site and maybe when the right piece comes along...? Thanks for your input, appreciated
    8. Saw this and would welcome opinions http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=006 Happy New Year to all!!
    9. ok....I dont doubt you are right but how come the difference in the 'brand' logo if they are from the same maker? and I guess from around the same period. Also the 'blueness' of the silk lining and velvet on the ebay item seems very new looking compared to the Weitze item. Excuse my naivety but I am in a learning process. Rob
    10. Hello Gents I think I have spotted a fake and I am reservedly chuffed about this! Might be wrong but feel I am right? I have been looking for a Bavarian 3rd cl. with swords and crown weiss & co. Saw these and have hopefully bagged the right one! https://www.weitze.net/cgi-bin/cat-art-inde..._104&lang=d http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...A:IT&ih=008 Check out the ORDENFABRIK small case on the suspect one and upper case on Weitze example. Also the impression of the print on the right one and the blurriness of t'other one. Am pretty 'appy wiv myself for spotting this, maybe? Comments welcome, everyday is a school day Rob went for the weitze item!
    11. I do know that Von Mackensen was a highly rated field commander WW1 on the Eastern front. But why this medal? Whats the significance?
    12. Cheers Rick. What state does it come from if any? I have read somewhere that "von Mackensen" was a celebrity TR supporter a I Have seen TR waffenring deutsches kavallerie badges. Its the same Mackensen on the Honour badge Weimer era? I have to admit I dont know a lot about this person but if anyone has any links I could check out? Just intrigued and wish to find the significance of the medal I mentioned first. Cheers Rob
    13. Hello Gents I am struggling to find any info on the Mackensen Honor Cross 1st Class. I dont know much about this so could someone send me a link to a thread or chip in with some info? Cheers Rob
    14. Hi all Just recieved this mini ic so thought I would put it to here and keep the thread going!! I did notice that this is very similar to Toms mini. I am not sure if mine is 3 pieces as my 2 yr old was playing with my loupes and lost them!! Also mine isnt magnetic which would suggest to me that it isnt 3 piece. I think the button is the same as Toms, marked Dep. Cheers
    15. Wasnt sure where to post this as was instituted in 1934 but 1914-18? Anyway could anybody provide a link to a list of makers of the hindenburg crosses? Thanks Rob
    16. Thanks for the pics Igor and your help. I did notice that on Danny's ic the mm is on the obverse whilst mine is on the reverse. Is this usual to have ringstamp on either side of the ic or not? to be dismissed or discussed? Rob
