    1. I am trying to confirm this bar to Major aD Walter Seebohm of IR 167. The awards are: 1914 EK2 HOH3x WVK3 WVK4 SMK Hindenberg TR 25yr Faithful Service Everything on the bar, except the TR 25yr, confirms to Seebohm. I am trying to determine if he was in some type of civil service between the wars. Seebohm wrote the unit history for IR 167 and maybe there is a picture of him in it or maybe be provides some detail as to what he did from 1920-1932 when the book was written. I also think he had TR army service as I find an Oberst (E) by that name in 1939. Any help is appreciated.
    2. I am making an attempt to attribute this bar. It has the following: 1914 EK2 REK (Reuss) REK (Reuss) SMK Hindenburg TR Faithfull Service Since the award rolls for the REK are not known to exist it makes the attribution very difficult. I would guess the officer was in a regiment from Reuss. That being the case I am looking for an officer from that regiment(s) who was awarded the HOH3X and SMK. Could there have been that many? What regiments were tied to Reuss?
    3. If I were to guess I would say it was the date the Kaiser sign the decree instituting the 1914 EK.
    4. It is a dark blue or black which could be Navy. It would take a great deal of work but an attribution for the bar is possible.
    5. Matt, ranklists are a littler difficult to work with, but they do reveal a great deal of information. Keep at it.
    6. Yes, I would have to agree, Finnish. Thank you all for the help.
    7. I would have posted this photograph in the appropriate forum section but I can't determine which country he was with. I figured the best place to post it was here so that everyone can see it. I am trying to determine what country he was with and the time period. The collar patches do not look American. The first ribbon on the bar looks like a 1939 EK2. Any help is appreciated.
    8. The book cover design was done by Rick Lundstrom and completed by Stephen Previteria. It came out really nice. When I picked up the books from the printer be had a unused cover that I gave to Kathy Ludvigsen, Eric's widow. It is framed and hanging on the wall. I should have grabbed one for myself. I remember when I found a plastic case with Eric's two binders of the type written work. Rick instantly knew what it was and almost had a heart attack. We secured the permission of Kathy of quickly got it into print.
    9. If I remember correctly from discussions with Rick the Italian Messina earth quake medal was given to men aboard ships of the German navy that assisted the Italian. Does anyone know which ships were involved? It may be possible to ID the owner.
    10. I have had a few discussions with some aviation collectors and would probable add an appendix with some new award information.
    11. Thank you all for you replies. I will keep you posted. One last question for my friends in Europe. Do you think a reprint would sell well in Europe?
    12. Someone offered to buy this medal from me back in January. If you are still interested, or if anyone else is, please PM me. Thanks.
    13. Thanks for all the replies. I can answer a few questions. 1. The book would be an exact reprint with the same quality paper and soft cover. I would add an index. 2. The cover would be in color the since all the pages are b/w, it would be the same. 3. The book was printed in 1988 and back then the binding methods for soft cover were not the best. Today they are much better. I would use what is called a perfect binding. 4. The quality of the scan would be of the highest quality to insure 100% reproduction of the original. 5. I don't know enough about "e" publishing to comment. I think that there is enough interest to proceed. I first need to contact the family and get written permission.
    14. I am considering do a reprint of Neal O'Connor's volume 1 of Aviation Awards of Imperial Germany WWI. I will of course have to have the permission of his family and/or estate first. I believe that V1 is almost unobtainable and if found can sell for several hundred dollars. My questions are: 1. Would you buy a reprint of V1? 2. What would you be willing to pay for a reprint? Thanks for the market research help.
    15. I did not realize that the French losses were so high. Thanks for posting this.
    16. Per the other post there was only one Haverkamp and he went into the Reichheer. The Haverkamp listed in the 1924 Army RL has the EK1, Black Would Badge, BMV4xKr and ÖM3K. He was with 19 Bayern IR and was a Hauptman. The awards don't match.
