    1. The newness of the ribbon was one of the reasons I did not jump on it. It was also expensive at $199. I am glad I did not buy it. To all thanks for the help.
    2. I am thinking of bidding on the bar but before I do I would like some assistance. Is this a good item or fake? The combination seems possible as most of the ribbons seem to be from Mecklenburg. I can ID a few. 1. EK 2. ? 3. Griffin with crown 4. Red eagle order 5. ? 6. ? (M-S long service) 7. Centennial Can soemone help with the ribbon ID? What regiments were from Mecklenburg? Any quess on the rank? I would say Hauptman or above.
    3. The first and last medal are wartime and will not help with the ID. The middle three should make it possible to ID. What is the middle medal for? It is a beautifull bar. Great find.
    4. Claudio, Nice bar and documents, Great group, just the stuff I also like. If I was at Gunzenhausen I would have beaten you to it. I usually make the show but this year I could not.
    5. I am not sure where else to post this. I group on the forum has always been the most helpful. I received this email and need a translation from French.
    6. Maybe this is a dumb question but how do you tell the difference between real silver and what ever else is used to make the swords?
    7. I know this does not belong here and I ask the moderators indulgence just this once. I am in urgent need of a pair of prewar Bayern slip on boards with a red back for an officer in the rank of Hauptman or below, without any devices or devices that can be taken off and have not damaged the boards. Please PM.
    8. David, I don't think the lists exist. The best source is the ranklists. Pre-1870 RL are very difficult to find.
    9. I have learned not to believe everything the seller says and to check it myself. I would have to agree at this poitn that it is probable a REK4.
    10. Thanks Mark. That does make sense. So the Reuss was an early war award to probable someone with a lower rank. I think rank would have been Captain or Major due to the RAO?Kr.
    11. Mark, I agree. The ribbon are out of regulation order. I think the Ruess is a 1 or 4 due to the ribbon. The 2 and 3 had a different ribbon according to Dan's webpage. Here is the link: http://home.att.net/~david.danner/militaria/reuss.htm
    12. I hope to be bidding on this bar and would like to get some feedback. As you can see the ribbons are: 1914 EK2 HOH3X RAO?KR 25 yr LSC Centennial Sax-Ern House Order w/SW Reuss Ehren Order w/SW This bar raises several questions. 1. Is the RAO for a RAO 4, 3, or 2? (could be any right?) 2. Is the Reuss for the 4th class or 1st class? If the Reuss is 4th which was to NCOs and officers from the NCO ranks then is the RAO w/Kr appropriate? If the Reuss is for the first class then it may have been for a Oberst or General, correct? What do you think the person rank was? Do you think the RAO is pre-war?
    13. Dave that is a wealth of information and thanks. By the way your website is a great help and I use it almost daily, GREAT JOB!!
    14. The books sound like they would be helpful but at this point I don't think I need them. I am concentrating on regular army for now and I have almost finished the Garde Korps. It is really not taking that much time. Each Korp is broken down to division, brigade and regiments followed by attachments. There are 21 Prussian Army Korps that were filled out with reserve officers and the Landswehr were separate. Now keep in mind that this is only the Prussian Army. There is also the Wurttemberg, Saxon and Bayern army korps to do. Does anyone know if the number of regular army Korps, divisions or regiments increased during the war? I am referring to just regular army, not Landswehr.
    15. Everyone, Thanks for the help. I think I will start with the 1914 RL as my source and grow from there.
    16. Before I create this I want to see if anyone else has done the same. What I would like to create is a spreadsheet which details the German Army in 1914. I will use the 1914 Prussian Army Ranklist and break it down by Army Korps, Division, Brigades, regiments and attachments. Each regiment will also have a listed the Chef, if applicable, and location i.e. Oldenburg. My goal is to have an easy reference sheet for researching medal bars and officers. My questions are: 1. Has anyone done this already? 2. Is this the correct organization chart? Thanks
