    1. Thanks Rick ... I'm totally stumped on these. At first I thought them to be Bavarian, then again no. I'll take a picture of the reverse tomorrow. Feelings are good for very early Hessian, but as you say that would be before "Extra Fein" marking Grrrrrrrrrrrrr
    2. Your help is needed please gentlemen .... I bought this set of six buttons not so long ago, thinking them to be Imperial German. They are in a silver colour, 23mm dia with "Extra Fein" on the reverse. I'm not sure now ... are they German .... :speechless-smiley-004:
    3. I'm afraid I don't know the date Christophe ... at the moment I am just reading through "Storm of Steel". What an eye opener this book is. I have my Great Uncle's diaries of his experiances from the British side of the war. The same sort of things seem to occure on both sides of the fence .... in other words you tried to look after youself. I will be looking out for the other publications of Jungers books ... a good comparison.
    4. Overall view of the reverse , showing the correct, later attachment hooks.
    5. View of the reverse of the badge .... notice the flush rivets and the quality of the finish.
    6. And now a closer shot, notice the depth of the enamel ... unlike some of the reproduction pieces that are about today.
    7. My Austrian cased Field Pilots badge with stick pin ... for your consideration full picture of case
    8. Very nice picture of the drum major Rick. I notice he has been awarded the EKII on war ribbon ... but what's the one by the side of it?
    9. Here's that promised closer shot of the device. Better late than never
    10. Hey Tony, No problems with that, but I'll have to take closer pictures tomorrow ... still haven't splashed out on a scanner yet :speechless-smiley-004:
    11. A pair of boards to a of leutnant's from the Infanterie-Regiment Markgraf Ludwig Wilhelm (3. Badisches) Nr 111. I picked this pair up some time ago. The crown and scroll work is fantastic.
    12. Yep .. that's right David .... Another Saxon Fanatic .... joins the club No problem Christophe here's a shot of the back ... the awards are Bavarian Military Merit Cross, Second Class with Swords, Prussian 1914 Iron Cross, Second Class, Bavarian Jubilee Medal of 1905, and kyffhauserbund Veteran's Medals with Swords and Bavarian Long Service Medal
    13. Here's another little group of Ribbon Bars for your consideration
    14. Stogie, I believe that the number of Double St Henry medal winners was even lower than that ..... In fact there was only 150 awards between 1914-18 of the Gold award and all but 7 of those received the Silver medal as well .... Now that does make them rare Here's that double bar along with a couple of others.
    15. Thanks for the welcome guys. Rick L .... well now I know where that strange plastic backed bar came from Like you Stogie .... my favorite is that double St Henry bar .... one hell of brave guy who earnt those.
    16. Hey Tony ..... very nice :food-smiley-004: The unofficial awards are something I've never thought about collecting .... but after seeing yours Hmmmmmmm another new direction to go.
    17. Some great packets there Rick .... I blame you for getting me started on the cased and packeted theme wub.gif Here's one from me, sorry about the quality of the pic [attachmentid=2154]
    18. Hey Stogie, it's nice to be here and thanks for your welcome. To those that do not know, most of these fantastic bars originally came from Rick. When I get the space to post more I will. Until then please ask any questions you have about the bars I have in my collection. Regards, Mike
    19. Hello, I'd just like to introduce myself to the forum with a few Imperial ribbon bars that I am lucky to have collected over the past few years.
